I seem to get overcharged

Have you heard of inflation?

Medical prices are continuously going up, though still much cheaper than the Western World...

ps - I never thought anything about being elderly was going to be easier... and so far, I am right, at least for myself... however, I do not find that Thai people are less respectful.

That's exactly wrong.

I am surprised how many farang here think like this.  Is it because you cannot accept that the locals  - all of them - around you look down on you?

In Thailand, respect is not earned.

You are born into a position that commands respect.

And as a farang, you are born a farang, you cannot change this. Sorry.

You appear to be the only one suggesting this. Speaks volumes.

Not completely wrong, but dependes if you mean generally or the official hi so born in to wealth.

I have met many army folks who parachute, diving, paragliding, ouring motorbikes as a group, as well entrepreneurs who treat you as equal because we have something in common to share.

But if you come to a 5 star hotel or resort with your isaan girl, no Hiso want to have anything with you to do.

Just how it is

No, they are not cheaper than the "Western World", whatever that may mean.

They are cheaper then in the US, but more expensive than non-subsidized prices in Europe.

Thanks for this elaborate comment.

It really explains things in depth, like your other posts.

Good there are smart posters like you,  they keep this board valuable.

Unfortunately,  I meant generally.

Even your Isaan girl does not respect you.

BTW if they were working for a reputable Thai company, they may very well be fired when 60 - retirement age in Thailand.

Then, many are truely f###ed.

I know some people like this. They NEED to work and can still perform their functions but are retired at 60. These are low level workers just barely getting by on less than 10,000/month. If their kids don't provide for them they will suffer greatly.

Why work in a country where one may only be able to build a limited amount of wealth and assets and faced with a dead end? Work in your home country and accumulate wealth and assets, then retire and have your fun.

My wife worked in said country and came to Canada with more savings in her bank account than the average Canadian.

I cannot but agree with the OP.

They either cheat or overcharge falangs/foreigners for anything to nothing.

At one point people get fed up and those who can, sell and leave (and their good money goes with them).

You expected them to respect you. Thats your first mistake.

That's a bit sad, for you I mean! Nobody respects you. Is there anything you can do to change that?

I had always thought the older I got here the more respect I would get. How wrong I was. For 25 years I had my fun, worked for the government and had various professional jobs in Thailand. The older Thai's always get more respect but I seem to get overcharged more and more and overcharged for the simplest things, medical services especially. Sure, you can say I'm cheap and bitter but others I know have noticed the same thing. To the point of not feeling safe. I wonder how long i should stay on here? Ok go ahead with the nasty responses.

Here is one nasty response. Feel free to leave, as you just can´t hack it. Maybe you thought coming here working for may years would give you more than maximum 20k baht a month.

How can you take that as an attack seen in retrospective of the line of posts stating nobody respects you, and even one poster claimed, not even his wife. Ha actually pointed out your wife, as everyone’s else’s wife I guess, since he most likely not married.

Who want to be married to someone who do not respect you.

However, I have experienced a quite few men and women who obviously have no respect towards each other, but who really want live in a such relationship? Or live in a place nobody respects you?

where I live I experience both from Thais, like any foreigner any place in the world, but from my close people around me, I give respect, and I get respect.

However, it is a line where some claim respect, and do not earn respect. It is a fine balance for some.

Being a colourful stranger in a country with different culture is challenging, especially if you stick out, and do things differently than the locals. I tried to avoid to build a mansion out in the wild, and I think we succeeded with that, still we are differently looked at.

What a load of BS.

Had loads of times that Thai people ask me if I want to sit in the BTS.

Me too.

Cheeky gits, ruins my day.

The OP has been a member on here for 8 years and has posted 4 times. 3 on Thursday and 1 on Friday, wonder what rattled his cage.

Good thing I didnt say nobody respect you in my post.

I said they as in a general statement about thai. But carry on with whatever your incoherent rant is implying.

1. Question; can you afford to live somewhere else?

Another wind up from a newly minted name.

The strange thing is this name has been here since 2017 and only posted 4 times, 3 on Thursday 1 on Friday. Probably a logical explanation.

Easy.

Just change your parents.

Be born as a Thai.

(You also need the required bank balance to get respect here, but most farang meet this requirement easily).
