They are Fung kwai

Want to bet the law doesn't change, and if there are any changes, they will be cosmetic ones? I didn't think there was any way they could justify putting so many businesses out of business. Ya, just like taxing worldwide income, hahahaha!!
Yagoda Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago Its all smoke and mirrors hiding more important issues. Whose constituency labours in the fields of weed?

Does this article claim that making this plant illegal again does not require approval of the Thai parliament? Is Thailand a democracy or not? If it is, then parliament must vote on this before it can be submitted to the Royal Gazette. Is this guy trying to do an end run around Parliament? How does he get away with being a one-man lawmaker? He's been taking notes from Trump 😄 1
Marco100 Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago This will simply create a "Drug Cannabis Cartel" out of all the farmers & shops who has invested money & time wich will close down . Like the Mafia toke over the Alcohol business during Prohibition Time in the US . GL with that ....

Legalisation was a disaster for those that love corrupt money flows into their pockets.

Anutin is still a player in this game and has powerful backing. If Anutin comes round to supporting Thaksin's ambition for casinos it is likely the proposed reforms of his cannabis business will be quietly dropped. Remember Anutin has always said medical use not recreational. Getting a medical cannabis prescription in Thailand will be easier than finding a non-overweight working woman and as cheap as a 6-pack of Singha beer 1

Magictoad Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago 9 hours ago, BLMFem said: Possibly, but so much of what's decided seems to be on the basis of shifts in political alliances. Take the recent "tightening" of alcohol sales. A few months ago this government talked about, and actually implemented, some loosening of the rules. And now they say they want to tighten the rules again, and I can't help but think that this is a decision made by a government in deep trouble who try to curry favour with any group that it thinks might help it cling to power, so this time the anti-alcohol lobby. The decision to outlaw marijuana was abruptly made after Anutin pulled BJT out of the coalition. Is this grace period (as you suggest) a time for businesses to adjust or is Anutin in talks with the Shins regarding a possible patch-up? One thing is certain; Thai politics is never boring. I have no idea what is going on in Thai politics. I haven't really followed it since 2013 when the current lot were preparing to depose the legal government and replace them with a PERMANENT MILITARY JUNTA. They have 75 permanent members who can never be voted out by any democratic means. I don't know what is interesting about that; just depressing.
Bohemianfish Posted 7 hours ago Posted 7 hours ago Best to ignore for now: In response, Minister Somsak Thepsuthin confirmed the postponement, highlighting the need for consultation with medical councils and stakeholders. He assured that discussions are ongoing but the delay will not be extensive.
pomchop Posted 5 hours ago Posted 5 hours ago just try and imagine how many growers have pounds and pounds of pot already grown and ready for sale...then imagine the govt actually does restrict sales, close most shops, and cause drastic drop in demand. There are many Thais who over the past couple of years have invested in and learned how to grow good weed. Will they all say oh never mind I will destroy all my equiptement and turn in all my existing supply to the cops? I don' t think so. Pot does not have an infinite shelf life so what will the growers do with all the excess product? Hmmmm...my bet is it will go out into the black market and prices will plummet and put most of the "legit" shops out of biz. Who will go to a legit shop and pay prices way higher than they can buy on the street? Like weed it does get a little sticky and bit more complicated to put genie back into the bottle. 1

The market umis still there, and some will be shipped offshore as well. Business as useal for those who already was in business before legalization. However the quality might be a few classes higher now than before. The Thai weed used to be bull pie around the common Islands. Couldn't match quality Mexican weed
Mitkof Island Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago All the Thai shop owners and Thai pot users better vote out these clowns as soon as possible and take Dr. Doom and gang to court. Is everyone suddenly a criminal over night?
Mitkof Island Posted 3 hours ago Posted 3 hours ago 8 hours ago, Ebumbu said: So this PM or whatever he is just says, "now it's illegal" and he can bypass the Parliament and get it published in The Royal Gazette? I'm genuinely curious. I don't know how it works in real life. Are you saying that the PM makes believe there is no system in place for creating a new law or amending the old one and everyone goes along with that? BINGO! Correct answer. It has to be voted on by Parliament first to become law therefore Dr. Doom lawsuit time!
