Just keep the soldiers out, get rid of the Senators, Generals or whatever they are called, there is over 200 of them. Were they not responsible for getting rid of Pita, who was the peoples choice for PM?

Yes, though we need to be careful about what we wish for ... What eventually rises to the scum-covered surface may not be better.

That's true the army elite scum may emerge again. due to Thaksin 's failed attempt to control Thai politics. When in the last election there was, in Thailand terms a good party who represented the people, who i do not need to mention,  which is a lost chance to correct the past, till the senate controlled by  the army senate ruined that one.

Yes indeed for whatever thaksin’s shortcomings he is actually the lesser of 2 evils. Don’t get started about PP they will never get into power.

Although he was promoted like Trump as a businessman who understands economic management, it has become very apparent this time that he either no longer understands anything about economics, or that he never did but had much better advisors to cover up his ignorance in the past.  His economic policies including handouts, land bridges and other utter nonsense have all turned out to be total flops.

wake up??  I guess you dont realize how much Thai people prospered when he was PM.

He did allot of good for the people, He helped the famers, which no politician in Thailand did before.

Has his time passed, yes it has. However, to say he is a disgrace seems to show you dont know what he was charged with and what he did for the Thai people.

Here's a few things he did as PM.

He injected funds into agriculture programs providing low interest loans to Famers, Village Development Funds, Village managed Microcredit loans.

He started the 30 baht medical program,(universal healthcare) he initiated the One TamBon program, which again helped the lower income and small mom and pop business.

Allot of massive infrastructure projects inculding getting the airport completed.  GDP went from a little under 5 Trillion to a little over 7 Trillion.

Foreign exchange reserves almost doubled to $60+ Billion.  He balanced the budget!!!

I recall Thai's being happy at the time with business thriving, our company had projects lined up for years to come due to all the plant expansions and new factories being built.

Export's were up! Tourism was just starting to take off.  This might be the reason he was elected as PM the second time in 2005.

What was he charged with??  Conflict of interest, for what?? selling is IT company. There were also some land transactions though his wife that were not on the up and up.

The war on drugs was an issue too, however corruption was seen by the international community as being down when we was in office.

He did start the crack down on visa runs, visa rules and overstays.

The sister who did a runner plus himself until, a deal was done for him.The sister maybe down the road  a plan, now  his daughter. Do you think she got power by herself without help from the back room.He knows what he has done  and if a new airport is built in cnx who do you think owns the land and will sell at a high price, that is something that may happen in time.Who knows if it will bite him in the rear one day

Throwing your young(ish) and clearly unqualified daughter into the political arena and under the bus to get power does reek of egomaniacal tendencies.

I wonder if she was the one who gained admission to Chula through the backdoor.

All his mistakes seem to boil down to being "yesterday's man" and desperately trying to cling on to the old days.

Personally I think Thaksin is the better choice of the current lot, Pita would have made a difference!

Thailand needs to have a "democratic" election without military influencing the results.

Most importantly he gave those poor folks a voice and made them aware their votes counted.
And with that he forever changed politics in Thailand.

And that's what Thailands "supposed" elite & the military weren't happy with!!

Excellent appraisal of a failed old man, out of touch with the modern world.

We have always seen that in him.

I was here when he was in his heyday in in 2004. He could do no wrong even then.

Even when he recklessly insisted on the Red traffic signals in Bangkok - all showing red in every direction at the same time.

And the handheld A4 boldly printed signs proclaiming 'no questions' at government public statements - attempting to suppress the news media.

His pathetic efforts to incriminate a junior ranking army officer in an alleged, staged 'assassination' attempt.

His time is over.

So to, is his party's hold on the country.
