The victorious England women's football team received a hero’s welcome as they touched down on home soil after their Euro 2025 triumph against Spain. Enthusiastic fans decked out in England regalia gathered outside Southend Airport to cheer on the reigning champions.

A grand reception awaited at Downing Street hosted by Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner. The Lionesses gifted a signed England shirt and enjoyed refreshments in No 10’s garden. The celebrations continue with an open-top bus parade in London and a procession along The Mall, concluding at the Queen Victoria Memorial.

A nail-biting penalty shootout secured England's thrilling 3-1 victory in the Basel final. Chloe Kelly's decisive penalty and Hannah Hampton's crucial saves made history as the Lionesses became the first English team to claim a major title abroad.

Over 16 million viewers tuned in to witness the gripping finale, marking the highest TV ratings of the year. The Lionesses landed back in England to a warm reception; their arrival was signified with an aircraft displaying the phrase "Home."

Deputy PM Rayner applauded the team, stating, "The Lionesses have brought it home again," expressing national pride over the European champions’ success. England manager Sarina Wiegman also addressed the crowd, praising her team's extraordinary talent.

Upon arrival, Captain Leah Williamson proudly displayed the Euro 2025 trophy. The team posed for photos in both sportswear and their official tailored outfits, bringing fans a moment of joy.

At Downing Street, the Lionesses posed beneath red-and-white St George's flags. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, abroad in Scotland, video-called Wiegman to commend the team’s performance. Government pledges to enhance women's football facilities further underlined the triumph's significance.

King Charles III expressed royal admiration for the team's achievements, with discussions underway for an autumn reception at Buckingham Palace or Windsor Castle.

While calls for extra bank holidays were humorously declined, Royal Mail announced celebratory postmarks to commemorate the win. The road ahead looks promising for women's sports in Britain, buoyed by the Lionesses' inspiring success.
