US Welcomes Qatari Gift: Fiery Debate Over New Air Force One

It was free and was needed

Not free--at least a bilion dollars will be spent on it, likely more.  And, not needed--two other Air Force One replacements are already on the books, with almost 4 billion dollars having been spent on them by the government and at least several billion dollars extra by Boeing.  Until they arrive the current AF1s will do just fine.  This is all about Trump wanting a shiny new toy, nothing else, and it's a colossal waste of taxpayer dollars.

Just another grift. At least there are millions of children around the world who can give up eating and starve so the US can afford this monstrosity.

The POTUS needs to be flying on the latest and greatest, not something "on the books' and "in the works". Boeing has never made a deadline or on/under budget yet when it comes to replacing AF1's.

Spending $3billion on upgrades to a new plane is cheaper than the $6 billion boeing is charging SAVING the taxpayers money. :stoner:

The "latest and greatest" is a 13 year aircraft that has already ceased production.

This and your  dumb reply  highlights that you are probably a MAGA and as TACO says he loves the uneducated. From your unending stream of comments you like TACO know everything.

Umm, you're a bit math-challenged, methinks.    Taxpayers have already spent 3.9 billion with a B on the Boeing planes.  We don't get that 3.9 billion back.  It's done been spent.  So, you want to spend another 3 billion of the taxpayers dollars on the gift plane and you somehow think the math adds up to 'SAVING the taxpayers money'?  I'm wondering how 6.9 billion vs. 3.9 billion is a SAVING for the taxpayers.  And, the gift plane isn't ready, either--it will also have to be modified.

Umh, it is not a new plane, it is a refit of an old one. The $3billion is in addition to the $6billion already spent on the two new aircraft. I understand that the deal for the two new aircraft was a fixed price contract, and the aircraft, which are being converted from two new, in stock but not used aircraft, have had to be virtually completely rewired - hence the delay; and Boeing are losing money on the job. I doubt that they will be prepared to take the same risk again!

So no saving of the taxpayer's money.

The "latest and greatest" is a 13 year aircraft that has already ceased production.

The current Air Force One aircraft, two Boeing VC-25A models, are roughly 35 years old, having been introduced in 1990 and 1991. These planes are based on the older Boeing 747-200B model. The USAF is currently working on replacing them with two new Boeing 747-8s, designated VC-25Bs, though they are not expected to enter service before 2026.

The gifted Boeing 747-8, intended to become the new Air Force One, is 13 years old, according to multiple sources. It was initially a private aircraft owned by the Qatari royal family before being gifted to the US. The US Air Force will modify the aircraft to meet military specifications before it can be used as Air Force One.

Looks like they not only have NOT ceased production but are still building the 2 on order.

Boeing is not 'still building the 2 on order'.  They were built years ago and never delivered to a customer.  747 production has, indeed, 'ceased production'--no new models are being built.  Boeing is doing work on an old model, just as one can do work on an old Ford Edsel--Ford Edsels have also 'ceased production'.   Work being done on an old model of anything does not translate into the item still being in 'production'.   Want a little bacon to go with that egg on your face?

I suppose the US taxpayers will be happy to donate these millions to their narcist idol.

Trump expressed dissatisfaction with Boeing over delays in delivering two new Air Force Ones, considering alternate options, including the Qatari jet.

And there goes the plan to buy American. Boeing may be the original manufacturer but not buying new means financially Boeing has lost revenue.

I am sure Qatar will not require favours from the President but will simply be treated as a favoured state.

I wouldn't think the Lefties would mind since they wasted 30+ million on the "Russia, Russia, Russia" hoax (which is starting to look like hoax created by the lefties) and let's not forget, Biden paid off student loans to the tune of 189 BILLION USD.  Could have purchased 452 Boeing 747's with the money Biden pis*ed away.

Whatever is costs is worth it just to hear the lefties howling.

Louder lefties, howl louder!!!!!

I love the “thumbs down” emoji. It’s  a visual representation of a leftist’s howl.

Kerp them coming!!!

Is the broken heart an extra loud howl?

Does it upset snowflakes more than a thumbs down?

Genuine question: why is it the right leaning posters who get so upset over emojis? I don't recall anyone from the left leaning world ever whinging about them. Why are the right leaners so sensitive and snowflakey?

You seem very confused.

It has been shown, by no less then little Mark Rubio, that there was Russian interference....so no too sure what that little blather was about.

In what way did Biden line his own pockets by paying off student loans?

You need to give your head a wobble.

Really?

And just how many Boeing 747s DID ex President Biden receive from dictator Putin?

I was simply pointing out that lefties should be no stranger to wasting money.  I never said that Biden was lining his pockets with the student loan scheme, he was simply wasting money by vote buying with the taxpayer's money. You seem to think the 747 belongs to Trump, it doesn't, it belongs to the US taxpayers.  Spending taxpayer money on a taxpayer asset for modifications is justified.  Your lack of comprehension as to what I previously said is a clear indication of what's wrong with the dumpster fire (previously known as the Democratic Party).  You should just go back to riding around in your cracked-out clown car (Carville's term) because obviously you are way beyond you comprehension level.

I didn't say Biden received a 747.  I said he received a gift from Putin!!  Jeez, another lefty whose comprehension level of the English language is abysmal.

Again you are sadly confused.....it only belongs to the taxpayer whilst the one billion dollar refit is carried out........then it goes to the "Trump Library"......and when it does, tax free, Trump has the sole say over what happens to it.....use it, sell it, whatever.
