I saw a recent topic of leaving money to a Thai. The only reasonable replies I saw were to contact an attorney which makes perfect sense.

I just want to leave whatever is left in three bank accounts to the director of the school I'm at after I pass, roughly two million baht. Can anyone recommend an attorney in the Pattaya area? I contacted one who quoted me 50k+ baht and said I would have to make two trips from Chanthaburi to Bangkok. There must be an easier solution.

Why not open a joint account with the school boss, then the money is already his when you do kick it, but YOU can still get your hands on it if you need to.

I like how the school is run, but I don't know her well enough to trust her at that level. Thanks for the idea, though.

Thai-Euro Law Office & Advisory

Office located in the soi that runs behind Big C on Sukhumvit
Rina speaks English and Thai and is wife to the lawyer

As mentioned above a simple will should be no more than 10k baht.

@CharlieH       Not saying it was you but can I ask why the email and phone number for a business has been removed from my reply?

Well put a few more signatories, teachers, on the account.

Why can you not simply write (type and print) your desires, you and your family keep the original.

The school gets a copy or two, and you lodge a copy with the Amphur.

It's a little more complicated. There may be a need for witnesses/executors, and who knows what all else. Hence the need for an attorney.

Of course you appoint Executors, and have the signatures witnessed by independant people.

My brother & wife are witnesses for my Thai will and are executors for my UK will, and my Thai GF and daughter vice versa.

Is this sufficient and legal, anyone please?

Apart from obvious caveats like minimum age, sound mind etc as long as the witnesses are not also beneficiaries then fine.

Well thanks. Wondering when that got introduced or enforced as I have often quoted phone numbers in the past......

@HappyExpat57 if you need specific details please pm me.

Thank you! A quick Google box search revealed their info and I've already sent them a request for a quote/details.

Yes, I took all that into account, using a Thai/English template, and putting it in clear English, including the sound mind bit. Note the Witnesses and Executors were swapped around.
