Paetongtarn Stays Firm: No Resignation Ahead of Ruling

In a resolute statement, Prommin Lertsuridej, Secretary-General to the suspended Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra, has firmly dismissed swirling rumours of her impending resignation. Reports had suggested that Ms Paetongtarn might step down before the Constitutional Court delivers its verdict on a controversial leaked recording involving Cambodian Senate President Hun Sen.

These speculations claimed that an early resignation would pre-empt a potentially damaging court ruling, thereby avoiding a political ban. However, Dr Prommin promptly rebuffed these suggestions on Monday, assuring the public and press of her continued leadership.

"I can confirm that she has no intention to resign at this time," he asserted. "We are proceeding in strict accordance with the law, and we stand by the legitimacy of our actions."

Dr Prommin elaborated on Ms Paetongtarn's unwavering commitment to navigating Thailand through a tense security situation along its border. Despite her suspension, she remains confident in her intentions to maintain peace.

Asserting her dedication, Dr Prommin highlighted that Ms Paetongtarn had been coordinating closely with security agencies, including the military and the National Security Council. Her approach involved informal discussions beyond official channels to help ease tensions and avert conflict with Cambodia.

"I believe her intention was to act responsibly as the country's leader. Despite being suspended from official duties by the Constitutional Court, she respects the court's authority and awaits its ruling," he added.

In the face of political and legal scrutiny, Ms Paetongtarn's team remains hopeful that the court's decision will acknowledge her steadfast commitment to guiding Thailand towards stability and peace.

When queried about the potential ethical implications of the case, Dr Prommin assured that all aspects, including the facts and legal considerations, had been thoroughly addressed in the submission to the court.

"The written statement has clearly addressed the ethical allegations and cited pertinent legal statutes," Dr Prommin stated confidently. "It will be up to the court to make the final decision."

As the nation watches closely, the upcoming ruling will undoubtedly be a pivotal moment in Thailand's political landscape. For now, Ms Paetongtarn appears resolute in leading her country despite the challenges ahead, with a focus on fostering regional peace and upholding her duties.

How can that be.....Oh sorry I resigned....... can't ban me now????

Surely those other leaders (can't remember their names) could have done the same???

Agree but with a slight change -  ....instead of keeping up her smile and filling her family's pockets (especially Dad).

Thaksin is having trouble staying firm. Probably age related.

As a contributor to the eventual culmination of events in which Cambodia  delivered the first strike and after supposedly being stood down as PM and yet using the mantle of Cultural " envoy" in a military conflict  should be viewed contrary arrogance !

People have died as a result of the obvious indifference to consequences  beyond the convenience of testing in a contrived "real" conflict the capacity of  modern military acquisitions .

Her daddy told her that he can still wing it... Let's wait and see. Me thinks, NO!

If she goes daddies screwed.

I'm sure palms are being greased to secure a smooth outcome

In this she is clearly doing the right thing according to the law: awaiting the decision of the highest court in the land.

Hey little girl, is your daddy home?
Did he go and leave you all alone? Mhmm
Hun Sen's got a bad desire
Oh, oh, oh, the border's on fire

Bruce Springsteen (sort of)

Thailand is really missing out here. There are fortunes to be made if they allowed gambling on the outcomes of these political shenanigans. 🤣🤣🤣

A while back it appeared the Shinawatras were on their way out, back to Dubai. Less sure about that now. They are reputedly injecting a huge amount of money into the system.

She must already know the outcome a brown envelope is very persuasive

That's a very good way of putting it  lol   I'm sure in her case the appropriate palms have been greased, and the outcome is already decided     It really would be naive to think otherwise im my opinion

I don't think they make envelopes big  enough anymore,, So f they cant use banks or other financial platforms for their dirty money  I guess it must be suitcases or maybe even  shipping containers, wonder if they are still brown though , in keeping with tradition

Thai people didn't you Ung Ing any more than they wanted the vacuous Chesire cat installed by your dad before you.  They voted for Pita.  Now they want you even less.  Please resign and get out of the way without waiting for the court to do the job for you.

she must know something about the outcome, she must be waiting for Daddy pull a rabbit out of the hat

No need to resign, dad has talked to the judges.

fish head soup in his future ....  soon !

She needs to call an election, before the oligarchs and others who run this country exclusively for themselves have their coup. If, she does call an election, and the above try to interfere with the election (again) through their various methods, it will be obvious - and they'll pay a heavy price for that this time around IMO. An election is really the only thing that can save Thailand at this stage - much as Thaksin and the ultra-right fear it.

Continue her leadership?? In culture?

So she is still "firm"   after having how many kids?  good for her ,       I probably would, but from behind

Daddy says i mustn't !

This young imbecile just doesn't seem to get it. I think she's quite dense, her father has fallen from grace, she has fallen from whatever little bit of credibility she may have had, and their party is now considered toxic. Their days are numbered, and she doesn't seem to have a clue. It appears that she's been living in an ivory tower and a bubble for way too long.

Yikes. Good riddens. Is it possible that Thailand can find an effective leader who cares one iota for the people, or is that way too much to ask?

Oh I forgot they elected one, and then they threw him under the bus because he was too smart, and too good, and too young, and too progressive.

She won't resign because Daddy says so.

The only real hope is that an election is forced (I don't know how) - beause that's the only chance the people have to elect a majority progressive government (e.g. currently called People's Party, formerly Move Forward). I'm sceptical though that an election won't be called soon, and even if it was the usual suspects would have it disbanded for some illogical reason as usual. In any case, that latter group would probably prefer a coup - and this ditz is playing right into their hands for that to happen by not calling an election.
