The only controversy is that the Home Secretary refused to say out of 155 arrivals, how many had been detained.   248 arrived yesterday, how many were detained ?   The silence speaks

  • I see that this ground-breaking deal has been celebrated with the introduction a new £20 banknote, in a plastic laminate so that it doesn't get damaged by water during "ad-hoc" channel crossings!

  • Their home country where ever that is.  Illegally entering a country does not give that person a right to stay there.  Supposing you overstayed your Visa in Thailand.  What do you think would happen i

You know or don't know that's nonsense.

A stark poster, distributed in France, forewarns potential crossers of the new removals. Displaying a person being escorted to a plane, it reads, "YOU NOW FACE BEING DETAINED AND RETURNED TO FRANCE IF YOU ARRIVE IN THE UK ON A SMALL BOAT," in both English and French. Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, during the announcement with French President Emmanuel Macron, emphasised the repercussions for illegal entry: "You will face being sent back."

Even now they can't just say "You WILL be detained and returned to France". What's all this "you now face" piffle: make it unambiguous and add a picture of a detention facility with caption 'Step 1' and then picture of being escorted to a plane captioned 'Step 2'.

Illegal migration has to stop.

Would you allow the slave labors more calories than the Nazis or the Japanese did during ww2?perhaps you could stage public flogging for extra money by selling tickets or tickets for the gawkers to see your slaves…..hummm??obviously I’m being sarcastic but look at your statement.thats ugly and wrong.

Who said anything about slave labor?  They'd be paid, just like POWs.  And fed.  And clothed.  And they'd get health care.  They just wouldn't be walking around grooming kids and mugging old ladies.

And the ones in France and the rest of the EU would think twice before hopping an inflatable.

No country can absorb the equivalent of a new small town every three months - qv. official UKGOV stats on 'irregular migration' by small boats. This is cut and pasted from the linked file.

This is payback for colonization.

We never colonised Albania or Pakistan, we created Pakistan for them- or most of the other counties these illegals come from, by that logic any American can just walk in then as they were once a colony.

Well, British people sometimes see themselves as the center of the planet.

However, please no deflections again.

The thread is about UK and France. So only laws in those 2 countries are here to be considered.

Are you from either UK or France? If not, one could argue that you don't have a dog in this race.

That to one side and to be clear: are you saying UK should just accept however many illegal migrants make it to our country? "Welcome, one, welcome all"?

If you're not saying that, then do you have any thoughts as to possible measures that could be employed to tackle this crisis?

I'm neither UK not France Citizen but Irish.

I gave my thoughts already more than 5 dozen times.

For you in short: no pull factors

You were born in Ireland and brought up speaking Gaeilge as mother tongue? Because your written English is very ropey i.e. what do you mean by 'no pull factors'?

Well, that would seem to be what is being suggested - this being from the original article:

"A stark poster, distributed in France, forewarns potential crossers of the new removals. Go and google "pull factor of migration" .

There it's explained.

(English is not your mother language apparently)

Just one of many Irish Vloggers that you might want to take a look at.

I like this guys dry sense of humour, and understated sarcasm.

Gardai is acting according laws. I'm strongly against the mob from the streets taking over the law in their own hands.

Actually I'm not interested in click baiting YouTubers.

When Police do not act according to the laws, is the very reason mobs eventually take to the streets.

As seen currently in Ireland and the UK.

You should have watched the video, he is no way a click bait YouTuber. Which is why I gave you that individual and not 1 of hundreds of others.

You won't / don't watch any of them. Because you couldn't handle the truth hitting you like a sledgehammer, right between the eyeballs.

You have a good day now.

You can watch as long and as many you want. Watching videos will not change anything

Which wasn't my point. My point being, that there are people, who are still in denial, lying through their teeth, and doing their best to obfuscate, the scale of the problem.

Nobody said watching videos would change anything, people know that watching videos will not change anything. That is why they are taking to the streets in vast numbers, protesting.

And when the authorities still fail to grasp the nettle, the next stage will be civil unrest.

And guess who will be to blame ? All these bumpernuts

Home Secretary Yvette Cooper has confirmed that the first migrants could return in the coming weeks.

Oh. Does this mean that those currently detained ready to be returned to France could return on a different rubber boat in the coming weeks?

Such a Swift return just after arrival should be done on Any E.U. coastline for those using those Ngo taxi boats and others ...in first instance to solve that "invasion"

That's funny

To stop the  economic boat migrants, you have to deter them, 2 things have e been recommended:

1. I D cards for all, necessary for employment.

2. No benefits or NHS care for economic migrants, but how quickly can the Home Office separate economic migrants from genuine refugees?

This poster made me laugh.

Attractive benefits and lax application of laws are the pull factors which are encouraging so many immigrants to the UK, both legal and illegal.

Migrant dinghies caught being returned to France by UK and reused:

I wish other leftists would be so quick to expose their stupidity and bitterness to the world.

They all think it. That's why even the British government seeks to weaken Britain with every policy. I just wish they'd admit it like you do.

So much for Starmer's 1 in 1 out. Since Friday over 2,000 have arrived across the Channel taking the number to 50,000 since Starmer tok over just over a year ago.Reports have seen of Gang masters bragging " Don't worry if your sent back we will give you a free ride back to England " and others filming girls out at night at weekends in there short skirts saying these are waiting for you.

That's hardly any answer to my question.

Again: where you want to send arriving/arrived illegal migrants?

If this cannot be determined just keep them in detention. Is this not clear enough?
