Crime Police Warn Public Over Fake Nescafé & Seasoning Products

The Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) has urged the public to be vigilant after dismantling an underground factory producing counterfeit goods, including Nescafé sachets, soy sauce and other condiments.

 

The raid, led by the Economic Crime Suppression Division (ECSD), uncovered a makeshift operation in Bangkok, where fake products were being manually filled and packaged before being distributed to markets nationwide. Officers reported that the counterfeits closely resembled genuine items, raising concerns for both consumer safety and brand integrity.

 

Among the seized items were green-sachet Nescafé instant coffee packs, which police warned could easily mislead unsuspecting buyers. Investigators stressed that the counterfeit goods were of inferior quality and produced in unsanitary conditions, posing potential health risks.

 

Authorities advised consumers to look out for the following signs when purchasing:

 

• Packaging quality: Fake products often have faded colours, poor printing, or inconsistent fonts.

 

• Seal and labelling: Genuine Nescafé sachets are machine-sealed with precise edges; counterfeits may appear loosely sealed or uneven.

 

• Price discrepancies: Goods sold significantly cheaper than retail price in street markets or stalls may indicate counterfeits.

 

• Authorised outlets: Buying from supermarkets, official distributors or reputable online platforms is the safest way to ensure authenticity.

 

A CIB spokesperson said: “These counterfeit operations not only defraud consumers but can also endanger health. We encourage the public to be cautious and purchase through trusted channels.”

 

The investigation is ongoing, and police have vowed to track down the wider distribution network responsible for circulating the fake goods across the country.
