Elias Morgan, dubbed the "executioner," has been sentenced to 45 years in prison for the brutal murder of prison officer Lenny Scott. The father-of-three was shot six times in a cold-blooded attack outside a gym in Skelmersdale, Lancashire, on 8 February 2024.

The shocking incident stems from a vendetta that began in 2020 when Scott seized a mobile phone from Morgan's cell in HMP Altcourse, Liverpool. This discovery also unearthed evidence of Morgan's illicit relationship with female officer Sarah Williams. The sentencing judge, Mr Justice Goose, labelled the murder as a vengeful act against Scott's lawful duties.

Det Ch Insp Lee Wilson condemned Morgan, describing him as a remorseless "cold-blooded executioner." Scott's mother, Paula Scott, addressed the court, highlighting her son's admirable traits and denouncing Morgan as a "violent, inhumane coward." The testimony underscored the devastation left in the wake of Scott's murder, with his family grappling with profound grief and loss.

Throughout the trial, Morgan refused to engage, instructing his barrister to remain silent on his behalf. Despite a lack of mitigation offered in court, the case revealed Morgan's chilling threats towards Scott, who faced intimidating remarks about his family prior to his murder.

The murder bore all the hallmarks of a calculated hit, with Morgan lying in wait outside the gym for nearly an hour. Imprisoned for prior crimes, including a high-stakes bank robbery, Morgan orchestrated a meticulous escape plan. Utilising a van and electric bike provided by associate Anthony Cleary, Morgan fled the scene, later returning the van to Liverpool.

Although charged with murder, Cleary was cleared, claiming ignorance of Morgan's intentions. His account in court, however, implicated Morgan further, revealing phone calls where Morgan admitted to the crime, reported the BBC.

The trial highlighted the risks faced by prison officers, with union leader Mark Fairhurst calling the murder "unprecedented." Lord James Timpson, the prisons minister, also expressed shock over the crime, emphasising ongoing support for officers.

This case marks a stark reminder of the perils within the prison system, reflecting broader implications for the safety and morale of those in the line of duty.

Prison guards need masks

Ought to be a full term sentence.

Let him die behind bars reliant on prison officers for everything he needs.

Forget the 45 years, cheaper for the public if he just went straight to the gallows

I like the thought of prison officers spitting in his food everyday.

or even worse stuff.

Also a few good kicking's by the prison officers, all year long.

That's a Foetal Alcohol Syndrome face.

If his mother had drunk a little bit more, he might have been a miscarriage and saved us all.

No, that's not the proper conduct of government officers.

It does go on, but the guards should not be thugs like the people they watch over.

In Brave New World, he would be a Delta (alcohol added to his vat during gestation).
