In a dramatic legal showdown, a sheriff has ordered the eviction of a self-proclaimed "African tribe" from privately owned land in the Scottish Borders. The group, known as the Kingdom of Kubala, claimed the area near Jedburgh as ancestral land, sparking a legal battle with the local council. Their immediate removal has been commanded by Sheriff Peter Paterson, as they failed to vacate the premises by the stipulated deadline.

The saga began in the spring when Ghanaian Kofi Offeh and Zimbabwean Jean Gasho, declaring themselves King Atehehe and Queen Nandi, arrived in Jedburgh. Joined by Texan Kaura Taylor, aka Asnat, the group pitched camp on a hill, asserting ancestral rights. Initial eviction by the Scottish Borders Council in July led them merely to relocate nearby, where landowners David and Mary Palmer sought court intervention to reclaim their property.

Local councillor Scott Hamilton criticised the group's actions as illegal, stating that the council had exhausted all diplomatic avenues. He expressed disappointment over the group's non-compliance with legal orders and highlighted the upset caused by their social media posts, accusing the community of prejudice. With substantial online followers, the group's actions have garnered significant attention.

In the face of eviction, Kofi Offeh maintained a defiant stance, underscoring their faith in divine guidance for their next steps. While they remain unyielding, the legal mandate requires their exit from the contested landscape, leaving open questions about their forthcoming actions.

Key Takeaways:

  • Sheriff Peter Paterson has ordered the eviction of the Kingdom of Kubala from Scottish Borders.
  • The group claimed ancestral rights but was deemed to be breaking the law by local authorities.
  • The self-proclaimed tribe has gained significant social media attention, defying court orders.

Keir will rush in and build you some new council houses and fly in all your relatives if you come out quietly 🤔

They prefer to visit their countrymen in France before making way in an un-seaworthy vessel. It gives a more dramatic effect. I've heard that the cars in Kent are preferable to an Airbnb.

What is this infatuation the Africans have with Scotland?  Idi Amin had it too.

Complete nutters. Confine them to the woods over winter then check the population of their Kingdom in Spring.

Scotland.

I must admit I had to read the story twice to confirm this is happening in the UK.

And how will this play out when the next group occupies land? And then the next. And the next. And the next. And then by the scores and so on.

Ah, too bad.

It would have been poetic to have a band of happy, smiling outlaw misfits living illegally in the woods, chased around by the local sheriff.

Amazon Prime could probably get a few seasons out of it.

I was thinking something similar myself. The nip of a Scottish winter will test their loyalty to the cause. When I was in the army, guys that looked like them didn't stand up too well to the cold.

How delusional can you be? Deport them, case closed!

Mud huts would be alot cheaper for this lot, and would be home from home.
