Ukrainian journalist Roshchyna died in a detention facility

Featured Replies

Journalists spoke with a released serviceman, Danylo, who said that Roshchyna was transferred from Taganrog to Kizel eight days before her death. He noted that he travelled with her on the same train. "She could barely walk; they had to take her to the toilet. She was extremely thin, just bones," the serviceman recalled.

New arrivals at the detention facility were subjected to torture."They would beat me continuously for an hour or two, give me a minute to rest, and then start again. I lost consciousness twice during the 'inspection.' Women were shaved bald, and you could hear them crying," he said.

Another released defender noted that prisoners in the facility were forbidden from moving around the cell or sitting. They were not allowed to communicate with each other and were forced to listen to Russian songs and lectures presenting a distorted version of Russian and Ukrainian history.

That's a lie. Ukrainian intelligence claimed this. If she was ever tortured at all is completely uncertain and unknown.

Obviously Ukraine is spinning propaganda.

Legal sources operating inside Russia and the occupied territories have also shared information, as have prison officials who resigned from the service in distress over what they had witnessed.

.The information about her final months has been gathered thanks to more than 50 interviews with survivors of Russian captivity as well as the families of some of those still held.

Preliminary forensics suggest “numerous signs of torture”, according to the prosecutor. Burn marks on her feet from electric shocks, abrasions on the hips and head, and a broken rib. Her hair, which she liked to wear long and tinted blonde at the tips, had been shaved.

Sources close to the official investigation have also disclosed that the hyoid bone in her neck was broken. It is the kind of damage that can occur during strangulation. However, the exact cause of death may never be known because when her body was returned during the exchange on 14 February, certain parts were missing, namely the brain, eyes and larynx.

This is a UKRAINIAN "prosecutor", presumably of the "Viktoriia project" a Ukrainian atrocity propaganda project, thought it's not clear on the face of it in this shoddy Guardian article.

The "numerous signs of torture", when examined thoroughly are nothing of the kind. Since when are "abrasiaons on the hip and head" proof of torture? Never ever.

A broken rib is proof of torture? Not on this planet.

But wait....oh my God, this last sign of "torture"....her head was....gulp....shaved...!!!!

A shaven head is standard in Russian prisons, where Roshchyna was held of course.

She may have been tortured of course, but there is no conclusive evidence of this whatsoever. All there is is Ukrainian speculation and atrocity propaganda.

Sadly? That's rich.

Ask Gonzalo Lira if this is true.

Oh, wait...........he's dead.

Well, it's a nice story.

But sadly, without any concrete evidence.

The supposed "clear signs of torture", a shaven head, a broken rib, etc...nah.

That's a bit like finding a corpse which has black teeth and then concluding he must have died of lung cancer. It's possible. But it's just speculation.

Lol, how would you know these marks are from "electric shocks"? Again, pure speculation.

In any war you have to know which side you are on there is no flip flopping back and forth win or lose I stand firmly with Ukraine.

I spent 22 years in the British Army then another 8 in the TA after that. We` always knew who the likely enemy was and that is mainly who we trained to fight it was Russia/Soviet Union.

Do I believe she was tortured and killed yes it wouldn't matter if she wasn't Russia is the enemy.

I repeat for Cameroni's sake:

A tragedy, and I have no doubt that perfidious Russia had a hand in her untimely death. Yet let us not forget the countless members of the press worldwide who have fallen under repressive regimes for such regimes fear the truth most of all. And we must also remember which country has claimed the greatest number of their lives and it’s not Russia. Steve Rosenberg may enjoy tugging at Putin’s chain now and again, but the record speaks for itself.
