Looking at the views compared to the replys it would seem not many of you are DSTV customers ? don't know what to make of this as there seems to be some realy good programs on it ?

i have UBC Dstv. it is clearer than my neighbors UBC Catv but shows the same programs

it doesn't work when it rains hard.

people are not answering you because they are not sure what you mean - dstv is a type of sattelite dish and receiver. content depends what service you are subscribed to.

I find the opposite is true... that that UBC/True CaTV is clearer than their DSTV... not to mention that it rains an awful lot in Thailand. The dish's clarity is also affected by high winds. There's also a chance you'll need to have them come out and climb up on your roof every 5-6 years because that rubber/plastic signal focus unit eventually becomes brittle (and will slowly lose it's ability to focus the signal) from rain + heat damage. That said, UBC/True generates more cash flow from getting you to use the dish and they don't even offer the cable version if you live outside of major city areas.

Yes, I agree they should cable a dense grid all the way to Maha Sarakham, and the bits in between.

I assume your talking about the Supersport chanel service from South Africa ? I think that's advertised as DSTV right? I haven't got it but would like to know how to go about getting it. I have the dream system which not so long back was a good service but now the signal is blocked several times a day is now a right pain in the a**e.! :o

Heng, I live in Bangkok and have never heard of a choice between satellite and cable. When they hook you up to begin with, they put in a satellite receiver. I just assumed that they no longer provided cable anywhere and you have to have a satellite receiver. Is this not the case?

I have a Dreambox with DSTV (multichoice) from SA and DreamTV from Phillipina.

Multichoice:lot of sport ;3 movie channels usually not too good movies

Dream:more good movie channels, less sport;image darker and not same quality as multichoice

I bought with jsat (look their site jsat.tv) I know there are cheaper thai solutions...but not sure if will have the same service.

Sorry cannot discuss detail here :o

Evening OMR... I don't think they offer it as a choice any more (mostly because there is more cash flow when they install satellite dishes, and probably also because the cable system is easily hacked/stolen). Our cable connections with UBC/True are from back when they were still IBC. When asked if we wanted to upgrade to dishes... we just said 'no thanks, some folks like to watch television when it rains.' End of conversation. Our newer homes and shop houses are all satellite connections, with them giving the reason that there was "no cable coverage in this area of Bangkok." I think that you may be able to get cable connections if you buy condo units or second hand homes that are already pre-cabled, with you demanding that you know that this complex or home is in fact connected to their cable grid.
