Hello all,

i am 53 year, married to a Thai woman for several years now and next year we would like to go permanently to our house in the Chiangrai province, i can retire at that moment.

i know i can obtain a non immigrant "O" retirement&marriage visa, but one thing is not clear to me, when i read the "police order" from Oktober 2006, i understand that i need to prove 400K Bht in a Thai bank, OR a monthly income not less than 40K Bht, some expats in an other forum told me that this rule has changed, they say i need now proof of 800K, OR a monthly income of 65K Bht.

Can anybody please clear ths up for me?

I sent e-mails to the Thai embassy here in Belgium already more than one month ago, still without reply.

Thanks for your feedback,

Marc.

For the retirement extension of stay, it is 800,000 baht in the bank, or 65,000 baht per month income. For the extension of stay based on marriage it is 40,000 baht per month combined income for the couple.

You do not need any proof of funds or income to apply for a Multi entry Non Imm O type visa while you are in Belgium (based on being married to a Thai). This visa will allow you to enter Thailand as many times as you wish for a year. Each entry must not be for longer than 90 days so you would have to exit and enter Thailand at least every 90days at the nearest border point.

You can use this to stay in Thailand for 15 months doing 4 border runs. At the end of that you will need to visit another consulate outside Thailand to apply for another visa.

If you have the funds (the amounts correctly stated above) once you are in Thailand you can apply to extend the visa for a 12month period which would alleviate the need to do the border runs. You would have to show the proof and extend every 12 months.

Just to confirm. If you want retirement it is 800,000 in the bank or 65,000 a month.

For marriage it is 40,000 Baht a month income. You or the wife or both together

Mahout Angrit is corect about the Non Imm 0 Visa.
