Trump Leaves Door Open to Third Term, Rules Out VP Loophole

Featured Replies

In regard to the notion as to how much President Trump has accomplished since his 20 JAN 2025 inauguration:

Even the Trump admin hard-right Solicitor General has admitted in Supreme Court oral hearing that some of the Trump Executive Orders may eventually be declared illegal based on 'merit', but until then, regardless of lower court rulings and appeals, they remain in effect as if they were legal and constitutionally compliant.

Or as one legal scholar has put it, how can the admin claim 'irreparable harm' from being denied something that may eventually be declared illegal or unconstitutional.

I hope he get another term.   WIN WIN for America.   I already have the hat.  Trump 2028

  • Great news. He's achieved so much already that another 4 years would be great for America and the world.   The last thing we need is the warmongering Dems undoing all his good work again.

  • The clown will be very lucky to see out this term, let alone run for  the next one, So currupt ,it has to catch up with the thieve eventually.

Trump doesn't need to run for a third term.  A proxy will do.  JD Vance, maybe Melania, or one of his sons.  He can control the White House with a dynasty.

US President Donald Trump has left the door open for a possible third term, though he ruled out exploiting a vice-presidential loophole to bypass constitutional limits. Speaking in Asia, Trump branded the idea of running for vice-president in 2028 as "too cute" and inappropriate. This comes amid speculation about a potential plan to extend his presidency beyond the current limits.

The US constitution's 22nd amendment prohibits presidents from serving more than two terms. However, Trump’s former strategist, Steve Bannon, hinted at a strategy that could see Trump secure another term, although details remain scarce. Trump expressed confidence in his strong poll numbers and mentioned potential successors, like vice-president JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, while taking a swipe at the Democrats.

Trump’s non-committal stance leaves unclear what method he might pursue. The amendment blocking a third term would need substantial legislative support to be repealed—an unlikely scenario given the current political landscape. Despite this, Trump’s comments aboard Air Force One reflect his ongoing influence and ambitions within US politics.

Key Takeaways:

  • Trump signals a possible third term run but dismisses the VP loophole.
  • Steve Bannon suggested an undisclosed plan to extend Trump's presidency.
  • Constitutional amendment hurdles make a third term constitutionally unlikely.

Why BBC is such a joke, for even suggesting Trump is thinking about a 3rd term.  Which he ISN'T.

Does explain why I usually ignore most posts by 'staff' on AN, realizing it is a business site, and surely they know the story is silly also ...

... and yet :coffee1:

Hardly blanket denials........

“I would love to do it.”

October 2025, speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to Japan. Trump cited his poll numbers and praised potential successors but added: “I haven’t really thought about it… I have the best poll numbers I’ve ever had”.

  “You’ll have to tell me.”

— When asked if he was ruling out a third term, Trump replied cryptically: “You’ll have to tell me,” leaving the door open.

  “Not joking.”

March 2025, Trump told NBC News he was “not joking” about seeking another term, despite constitutional limits.

  “I’d like to.”

August 2025, when asked directly if he’d run again, Trump said: “No, probably not… but I’d like to”.

Of course there would have to be an election. Nobody has suggested otherwise.

Although with Harris likely running again that would be a foregone conclusion, especially if she keeps getting hammered before speeches and doing the blaccent. 😄

It's impossible .. end of.

To discuss it, or post about it, shows pure ignorance, borderline stupidity.  Nothing but what it truly is, that we aren't allowed to say out loud, or it gets deleted.

Again, when I see the author is in colored text, I usually ignore to topic.

What with his bruised hand and swollen legs. Some say it's chronic venous insufficency. Although not fatal on its own, it can lead to serious, life-threatening complication if left untreated. Inshort, the man is ill. What you think since you seem to be an expert in Trump's health condition,

You’re seriously confused.  I’m not surprised.

If you go back and read your fellow leftist who is making health claims about Trump as if he is Trump’s personal physician you will then read that I challenged his statements by asking to provide Trump’s physical examination and lab work results to verify his claim.

To date, he hasn’t. More likely than not because he had no proof in the first place.

Being the loyal reach around buddy you interject yourself into the conversation with your comments, assuming to DEFLECT from the original conversation.

Your statements are irrelevant.  I’m not the one making claims about Trump’s health.

If you truly want to be useful to your buddy contact @spidermike007 and advise him to provide Trump’s medical records so he can back up what he stated with proof other than looking like a fool similar to all his other posts.

It is now and getting worse, if Trump ever finishes this term (which I doubt) the world will have become ever more dystopian.

naaaaaaaaaa ..

WASHINGTON, Oct 21 (Reuters) - Americans blame Republican lawmakers more than Democratic lawmakers for a partial government shutdown, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll that also showed Republican President Donald Trump's approval rating increasing slightly.
The six-day poll, which closed on Monday, showed Trump's approval at 42%, up 2 percentage points from earlier in the month, within the poll's 2 point margin of error. Trump's rating has held between 40% and 44% since early April.

The amendment only prevents election to a third term.

If Trump was VP or speaker of the house he would be inline to become POTUS......correct?

Maybe so if by legend you meant 'of great fame' like Mussolini. Is he heroic? His lame excuse not serving in the Vietnam war cancel that notion. ☺️

Even though I am very pro America, there was nothing about America's actions in the Vietnam war that was heroic.

That is one war that should never have happened.

Anyone with an ounce of integrity knows that.

Just a silly what if scenario.  Can y'all get any sillier ... I can ...

Why not full on, and take a page from Tom Clancy's 'Debt of Honor' (great trilogy, highly recommend reading) where a terrorist takes out Congress with a 747 ... and Trump is the 'Lone Survivor'.    Could probably make a TV series out of it :coffee1:

Surprised no lefty nutters haven't suggest he get the Amendment changed, so non born Americans can be president, and Melania wins, and he is VP.

An election with an individual constitutionally barred from running for another term. Just admit it  - you don't care about democracy, you don't care about the rules UNLESS it favours YOUR guy - ergo, you don't believe in democracy, you believe in autocracy.

82 years-old during his third campaign, almost 87 at the end of a possible third term. Young enough to run for a fourth time... 😆

Trump has just demolished half the White House without any sign of someone stopping it. He also bulldozed the historic Rose Garden to build a paved coffee patio. The Oval Office looks like a golden bordello after his redecoration. He disrespects his predessessors with insulting portraits in the hallowed halls. His press secratary answers serious questions with "Yo Mama" if she doesnt feel like answering.

He pardons criminals for money, or just because they are  Republican. He gives medals of honour to criminals as favors..    He's placed troops in Blue cities and cut off their funding as punishment for voting against him.

He's using the DOJ to prosecute people on false charges if he regards them as enemies . The Supreme court is blatently corrupt and in his pocket.

He's running roughshod over smaller countries with tarriffs despite existing trade agreements. He doesn't give a flying fig about the small people who voted for him and are going bankrupt under his policies. He murders people in boats in international waters without evidence or due process. His private thug army kidnap people off the street and remove them without appeal despite any strong  ties to the country

He and his cronies are in the process of fixing the mid terms so he keeps his greedy and cowardly House and Senate dupes in the majority.

He is halfway to full-on dictatorship and the American public is responding with impotant faux horror as he rips their precious constitution to shreds,  The people are expressing indignation in posts on the internet and in memes while he continues on his path of destroying democracy.

Why wouldn't he stay in power as long as his health allows? No one in the US is stopping him from becoming their first despot.
