Police in Chiang Rai raided a rental house in Doi Khao Kwai community, detaining four Chinese nationals after discovering numerous linked and connected computer devices. The raid was prompted by suspicions of illegal activity, including potentially operating a call centre or other cybercrime. Authorities seized all equipment for further investigation.

The operation took place on 31 October 2025, led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Manop Sanakul and Pol. Col. Phasukon Thawatchienkul, with local investigative officers. Surveillance and intelligence indicated unusual electricity usage at the property in Moo 23, Rob Wiang Subdistrict, Mueang Chiang Rai District. Upon entering, the suspects attempted to flee but were apprehended without incident.

Inside the house, authorities found a large number of computer devices actively running and connected with additional hardware. Initial questioning was complicated as the detainees did not speak Thai. Police took the individuals and all electronic equipment for detailed investigation.

Officials are examining whether the four individuals are linked to a call centre gang or other illegal operations. The investigation will determine legal action based on the findings, in line with Thailand’s cybercrime and criminal statutes.

Time rental owners were also held accountable for these offences.

Weekly/monthly inspections would stop this activity overnight.
