The British government is moving to strip Prince Andrew of his last honorary military title at the behest of King Charles. Defence Secretary John Healey confirmed that King Charles has expressed his desire to see Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s position as Vice Admiral in the Royal Navy removed. Andrew, who lost his title as a prince last Thursday, had held onto his naval rank despite surrendering other military roles the previous year.

 

This decision follows a series of actions prompted by Andrew’s association with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, which has tarnished his public reputation. After a 22-year stint in the Royal Navy, where he notably served during the Falklands War as a helicopter pilot, Andrew faced mounting scrutiny. Commenting on the situation, royal author Valentine Low stated that this will likely be a “blow” to Andrew, who, like many royals, takes pride in military affiliations. The King’s decision reflects an uncompromising stance, further distancing the royal family from Andrew’s controversies. Andrew has consistently denied any wrongdoing despite settling a civil lawsuit in the US over sexual abuse allegations, which he maintains were false, reported BBC.

 

Going forward, the removal of Andrew’s final military title will mark the end of his formal military associations. Previously, he relinquished several significant roles, such as colonel of the Grenadier Guards and overseas responsibilities, including roles in Canada and New Zealand. Charles is really showing some backbone these days. 

Many people calling for judicial punishment but until the release of the Epstein papers and videos, he hasn't been found guilty of anything, just ostracized by his family.

He will be just another duffer sitting on a bar stool on Soi 6 eventually.
