Two Thai celebrities have accused a fellow actor of orchestrating a fraudulent investment scheme that swindled millions of baht from them and others in the entertainment industry. They allege that police inaction forced them to seek help from a non-profit organisation to revive the stalled investigation.

Kittiphat “Gun” Lerk-ukot, aged 26 and Pratchayakarn “Mudmee” Promkling, aged 24, revealed details of the alleged scam through the non-profit group Saimai Survive on November 3. They said they had filed a complaint at Chok Chai Police Station last year, but no progress had been made. The pair claimed that the suspect, a well-known actor, had lured them into investing in multiple ventures with promises of high returns.

According to Gun and Mudmee, the accused invited them to participate in businesses including a restaurant, a car care shop, and several film and television projects, promising profits of 6 to 7 percent. The suspect allegedly portrayed himself as a successful businessman, often boasting about his earnings to build trust. Encouraged by these claims, the two invested large sums and even lent the suspect money on several occasions.

Gun said he lost around one million baht, while Mudmee lost approximately 800,000 baht. Initially, they received profit payments as promised, but these later stopped without explanation. Both victims said they believed there were several others in the entertainment industry who had also been defrauded in similar ways.

After months without updates from investigators, the pair turned to Saimai Survive for assistance. Ekkaphop Lueangprasert, the organisation’s founder, said he contacted the superintendent of Chok Chai Police Station following the victims’ plea. The officer reportedly acknowledged that an administrative error had delayed the issuance of a summons to the suspect.

Police have now pledged to summon the accused actor for questioning and to pursue legal proceedings promptly. Authorities stated that if the suspect fails to appear, an arrest warrant will be issued. The victims expressed hope that renewed attention from both the organisation and media coverage would lead to swift justice.

Admin error in making a summons to question the guy? Hard to believe this is coming out of the mouth of a police officer. Oops, strike that, an admin error must mean they lost the paperwork and forgot about the case.

Greed and a lack of due diligence can lead to poor investment decisions.  Actors are often unsophisticated and vulnerable to these types of scams.

Shock-horror, criminal Thai actors. What's next? Criminal Thai politicians or police officers?
