Prince Harry Says Sorry To Canada Over ‘Hatgate’ At World Series

Prince Harry has jokingly apologized to Canada after being spotted wearing a Los Angeles Dodgers cap during the World Series matchup against the Toronto Blue Jays — a moment he now calls “Hatgate.”

“Firstly, I would like to apologize to Canada for wearing it,” the Duke of Sussex told CTV with a grin. “Secondly, I was under duress. I was invited to the Dodgers box by the owner himself, so I thought I was doing the polite thing.”

Harry, who once lived in Canada with Meghan Markle, swapped allegiances mid-interview — donning a Blue Jays cap and insisting the hat choice was partly practical. “I’m missing a lot of hair on top,” he quipped, adding he wore the Dodgers cap under the floodlights to cover his head.

“You’ll take any hat that’s available,” he said, laughing. “Game 5, Game 6, Game 7 — I was Blue Jays throughout. Now it’ll be hard for me to return to Los Angeles. But I’m very sorry to the Canadian public.”

The Dodgers ultimately clinched a 5–4 extra-innings win in Game 7, sealing back-to-back championships and breaking a two-decade MLB streak.

“Devastated that the Blue Jays lost, but go Jays,” Harry added.
