Trump's Late-Night Takedown: Calls for Seth Meyers' Firing

In a fiery weekend of social media activity, US President Donald Trump has renewed his attack on NBC late-night host Seth Meyers, demanding his dismissal. Trump took to Truth Social to criticise Meyers' recent show, labelling it a "Ratings DISASTER" and deeming Meyers talentless. FCC Chairman Brendan Carr echoed this call for action on his social media account.

This is not the first time that Trump has targeted Meyers. Earlier this month, he criticised the host, calling him "the least talented person to perform live in the history of television." Meyers, known for his satirical style, has often been vocal about Trump, once retorting that he is “not the one who talks endlessly about catapults on aircraft carriers!”

Carr’s reposting of Trump’s demand brings further scrutiny to the relationship between government figures and the media. This follows Carr's warning to ABC stations over Jimmy Kimmel's comments about Charlie Kirk, which resulted in Kimmel's show being temporarily pulled from the air by major station groups Nexstar and Sinclair.

The media and public have responded significantly to these events, leading to subscription cancellations for Disney+ due to the fallout from Kimmel's remarks. Additionally, some Republicans expressed concerns over Carr's comments, with Senator Ted Cruz likening the situation to actions of a "mafia boss."

The controversy also ties into broader legislative discussions, as Cruz plans to introduce the Justice Against Weaponized Bureaucratic Outreach to Network Expression (JAWBONE) Act. This proposed legislation aims to address perceived pressures on tech companies by the government, advocating for the protection of Americans' rights against governmental actions, reported Yahoo News.

Key Takeaways:

Trump has once again called for Seth Meyers' dismissal, criticising his show.
FCC Chairman Brendan Carr amplified Trump's demand, following an earlier instance with Jimmy Kimmel.
Senator Ted Cruz is proposing legislation in response to perceived government overreach in media matters.

I don't think Meyers could ever pretend to be an Alpha.

He’s far and away more of an alpha than you will ever be.personally I enjoy his work love the way he takes the present political scene apart.hes usually the very first thing I see in the morning when I have my coffee……the late nite talk shows keep me sane!he’s obviously striking a nerve with the felon no doubt about it.

It'll be a badge of honor for him.

Maher is doing some heavy buttocks smooching.  John Oliver isn't relenting.  Fallon?  Who's that? 😊

Colbert has beaucoup bucks from his network show, so he can afford to retire in comfort.

Seth is sort of the godfather of SNL alumni, but I doubt he gets paid the megabucks Colbert and Kimmel do.

Back when Nixon's enemies list was revealed there were certain personalities who were not on it who griped "hey, what about me?"

Trump becomes more unhinged every day.  Scary.  Meanwhile, if Seth's ratings are so awful, as Trump claims, why is he even bothering to get him fired if nobody is watching?

Reassuring that The Fragrant Leader can find the time and energy to examine and make recommendations to independant broadcasters based on their late night programmes ratings!

Surely nothing to do with Meyers taking the piss out of him?

I don't know if you ever got to see his show, but he makes cracks all the time about how his executive producer forgot his show exists, that his writers don't watch it, and according to ratings there are only three viewers.

I watch it for the political satire, that's where it excels and that's why DT is targeting him. More often than not I skip past the guests, who are usually SNL people.

DT's idea of defaming is to say someone is failing, even when they are obviously not.  His word overpowers the physical reality -- yeah, sure.
