Singapore - The commander-in-chief of the Royal Thai Army, General Sonthi Boonyaratglin, received on Friday a prestigious military award from Singapore Defence Minister Teo Chee Hean.

The Meritorious Service Medal was awarded to Sonthi in recognition of his contributions toward enhancing the strong ties between the Singapore and Thai armies, the defence ministry said in a statement.

Does this mean that the fences have all been mended?

Well, Singapore can hardly be championed as a bastion of democracy can it? So, it's not that suprising. I'd say this is more of a business based award, Temasek need to try and keep certain people sweet otherwise a certain investment made by the Lee family is going to look rather risky.
