Interesting documentary about the state of Thailands economy ;

 

I can't say I agree with the view that Thailand is suffering from deflation ? The cost of food is definately on the up as a trip to any market or mall will confirm .  But  that aside , worth the watch.

 

 

The Thai economy is not doing well, and has been in decline for some time.

 

For decades, international groups - such as the World Bank, IMF, Asian Development Bank, etc. - have been calling for reforms and structural changes.   All ignored.

 

Recently, various Thai business groups have joined the chorus for change.

 

But with powerful Thai business families having virtual (not cyber space) monopolies, over reliance on cheap imported labour, the increasing flood of cheap China-made produce (increased recently due to Trump's tariffs on Chinese produce, resulting the China exporting more to other regions) and the inmcreasing presence of Chinese businesses in Thailand, there is only one way for the Thai economy to go - down.

Just another example of how INSANE  the world is .   Go to 9:50 mark and discover that

one BIG problem in Thailand is "dangerously LOW infation"  

 

This is the model (inflation is good )  that keeps the world's workers enslaved . 

And the elderly just hanging on in their later years .
