December 24, 2025Dec 24 Hi, sorry if this is the wrong forum - admin please move accordingly if not. I just found out I can collect a lump sum payout of money I paid into Thai social security for working more than 12 months but less than 15 years. How did I not know this? đ¤Â I also have seen some AI and fuzzy type proclamations that this must be done within 2 years of reaching 55 and becoming unemployed? For my example: I quit my job 1.5 years ago, I'm 58 years old, I've worked over 12 months but less than 15 years. Is there a time limit to claim my benefit? Many thanks. Â
December 24, 2025Dec 24 I believe you have to have paid it for 180 months or 15 years to collect the lump sum payment. I paid in much longer than that and receive a monthly check. Good luck. Take a Thai speaker to your local social security office and see what they say. Its what I did. If you do this you lose all free medical benefits.Â
December 24, 2025Dec 24 Received about 60,000 baht lump sum from Thai SS after I left my job. I believe I had to collect within a certain time frame or would have lost it, my employer reminded me. I was still eligible for the medical benefits if I would have paid the premiums.Â

If you remember, how did you file and collect? Didi you go to a SS office and fill out forms, then would they have wired it to your account? Â
