So his free speech should be suppressed.

His attempt as a foriegner to try and subvert the USA constitution and suppress everyone elses free speech there? Yes, he shouldn't be allowed.

Nope. They're denied entry to the US for advocating limitations on hate speech in the EU and other European nations.

Maybe you are in favour of the EU employing their own version of China's great firewall to block US social media platforms?

You mean you think it's hypocritical for Trump to call out lack of free speech elsewhere but then claim that criticizing him is illegal?    https://www.politico.com/news/2025/09/19/trump-no-

I do wonder of the state of the media in America that don't pick up on the hypocrisys ... or are they too afraid to ask any pressured questions for fear of being kicked out of their kushy little numbers around the white house?

Furthmore, let's be honest this is not about free speech. This is about protecting social media platforms based in America not losing any market.

If say one of those big social media companies was suddenly heavily hit in Europe, or banned - that would wreck the company. This is about making sure nothing like that happens. Also X is now valuable tool to spread their ideology. I'd argue alot of the far right wing movement has been spurred on by the alogrithms of these sites.

Again more hypocrisy ... the Americans were dead set against banning tiktok on security grounds, until it was transferred over. Yet they don't want Europe to have the same rites.

Nuts. Basically you are going to see Europe armour up. Japan armour up. The indians have basically joined up with China now. What a loony state of affairs the president has presided over.

Didn't know the US constitution is applicable in the EU and European countries?

Especially not a foreign government (the EU).

And I agree with them.

Except very government has the sovereign right to regulate big tech within its own territory.

Neither the UK nor the EU are trying to regulate anything within the U.S.

The US is attempting to prevent the UK and the EU regulating big tech within their respective territories.

Exactly.  And who is behind the use of social media to disrupt the democratic processes of independent countries?  Who benefits from the breakup of the UNITED Kingdom, the European UNION, the UNITED States; could it be a psychopath who was angry when the Soviet UNION broke up and is now trying his best reinstate it?

Protecting against the algorithm makes sense.  Umbert Eco got it right as he said, 'It gives idiots the right to speak when they once only spoke at a bar.  Now they have the same platform as Nobel Prize Winners.  It's the invasion of the idiots.'

He wasn't attacking free speech - he warned about truth drowning in noise.  Algorithms care nothing about truth, only engagement; lies spread faster than facts, and volume replaces expertise.

This is why the mega rich want unfettered access to foreign market social media to give the masses a false target to hate so that they ignore the real threats.

Such as Palestine Action.

This whole topic deeply offends me. It makes a mockery of my religious, cultural, masculine and culinary beliefs. BAN IT NOW!

Correct, over 30 a DAY, in the UK are arrested over social media posts!

From the article..." the UK government asserted its support for maintaining a free internet "........:cheesy:

I'm sure Musk has political views of the world. But what he can't square up with his argument is that he is an immigrant from South Africa living in America, who came to America on a student visa, and then mirky details about how he may well have violated that visa. He can never square that hypocrisy up when he spews his vile views on immigration.

X today is full of bots from India and Russia telling us the EU has no free speech. These posts being pushed to the front on feeds.

What a shower of dog waste that platform has become.

Those free speechers saying the poor darling Lucy Colony was hard done by. Go say what she said in Thailand and see how far it gets you.

Yet here you are in Thailand !

Like i say what they mean by saying we 'free speech' is  'please let us be more racist'.

Racism claim is bizarre coming from you the white migrant trying to gatekeep Indians out of Thailand.

I welcome Indians into Thailand.

But a developing nation with a very low GDP (much lower than Thailand) must have visa controls. They are not benefitting tourism, but actually hurting tourism by drawing away high spending tourists.

Single men, sharing 10 to a room, sharing one lady amongst a group, spending next to nothing, should not be welcome into Thailand. Families, visitors who want to see attractions, and willing to spend should be welcome with an easy to obtain visa.

Alot of the indians in Pattaya unfortunately behave very poorly.

The constant soliciation of women who are not prostitutes is very depressing to see. I love India and the people. But the behaviour of their men in Thailand is ghastly.

This makes no sense.

IF, Thailand was hellbent on importing millions of military age male muslims to be housed and fed and given free iphones forever on Thai taxpayers dime, and could then bring all extended family, and it got to the stage where Bkk was only 30% proper Thais and Thai flags and culture were banned to not offend the nu-voters, you would be reading a lot worse than Lucy Connollys tweet.

But thankfully Thailand prioritizes the benefit of Thai people.
