Thailand is closely monitoring the situation in Venezuela following the news that US authorities have captured Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro and his wife. They are to face charges for drug trafficking and weapons offences in a New York City court next week. Meanwhile, former Cambodian opposition leader Sam Rainsy has made headlines by claiming on social media that Cambodian leader Hun Sen could be next in line for similar action.

The Thai Foreign Affairs Ministry has issued a statement urging all parties to resolve conflicts peacefully, adhere to the UN Charter, respect international law, and prioritise civilian protection. The Thai embassy in Lima, responsible for Venezuela, is actively coordinating with Thai nationals in the region and advising those without urgent reasons to postpone travel. This announcement comes amidst a plethora of comments from Thai citizens reacting to the Foreign Ministry's statement.

Sam Rainsy's controversial remarks involved posting a photo of Maduro with Hun Sen, suggesting US actions against worldwide crime networks. This has sparked further discussions about potential implications for other global leaders. Rainsy has a history of challenging Hun Sen, adding additional tension to the geopolitical climate in Southeast Asia.

Looking ahead, Thai authorities continue to stay alert to developments and are prepared to assist nationals in Venezuela as needed. We will closely watch the trial in New York, not only for its immediate judicial outcomes, but also for the potential geopolitical ripples it may cause. International communities, particularly those with nationals in Venezuela, are likely to follow proceedings closely, reported Thai Newsroom.

Soon be p...g down in Cambodia.

Considering Hun Manet's graduation from West Point in 1999, and his close friendships with several senior US military officers, such action would seem unlikely, in my opinion.

Cambodia is far down the line.

He'll take over Greenland, Cuba, and several Caribbean islands first.
In fact, Greenland should go later this week. There are a LOT of mineral resources there that he wants to steal.

He doesn't wait for Congress to approve of the action.

In fact, he hasn't yet, for any of his illegal actions.

I'm just waiting for China and Russia to start taking such illegal action against Taiwan and Ukraine. After all, if he can do it without anyone even trying to stop him, why shouldn't they?

Does the country have as much oil as Venezuela?

Thailand too as the whole country seems to be on the Unesco Heritage list... food, clothes, temples, sports, anything you can imagine... Who would not have a country museum of the Unesco Heritage

one of the high ranking in charge of the military is called Vladamir is all you need to know

I laughed when I heard the Russian response to this (special operation) hilarious

England has no oil, very few natural resources, and offers trump no value that he can rape. The UK is safe... for now.

The former Khmer Roughe officer Hun Sen would most certainly be of great interest for any international courts for his actions from all the way back to his Khmer Rouge days up to recent days. The list is long and gruesome….

But Cambodia and Hun Sen has no such interest for the US monkey…

LOL. Oh yeah, the Thai army is going to go in and snatch him, hahahahaha

did Hun Sen also do the trump-style dance?

donald trump does not like criminal people copying him, because he wants to be the only (criminal) one ... 🤣

Yes, that lunaticcrazy clearly doesn't see beyond his own nose. He has legitimized Russia's invasion of Ukraine with his own actions and paved the way for China's invasion of Taiwan, and if he tops it off by annexing Greenland, it will be the end of NATO and it will pave the way for Putin and a new world war. Good job Donald Duck...

He "IS" the law !

Not by the US, maybe Thailand is getting some ideas.

I haven't been following what is going on in Cambodia, but wasn't there something about the US building a base there? It is no secret that China has an eye on the South China Sea area, even Obama mentioned it in a State of the Union speech.

Would be interesting to see. The fact is that Thailand does have well-trained killers. Just ask the various individuals who ended up floating down the Mekong when Prayut was the boss.

What a JOKE !

For one - Cambodia is NOT an "oil exporter" so why would Trump give a crap ?

For two - Cambodia is firmly in CHINA'S back pocket and I'm pretty sure they would not be happy about any attempt by the US to do "regime changes" in their back yard.

And that applies to Myanmar, Zimbabwe and pretty much every other country in the world that is not an oil exporter or under the protection of China or Russia.

Cambodia would be so far down Trump's list of targets that he'd need to be in office for another two terms before he got around to it - and he's not even allowed to run for one more term anyways.

Venezuelan Oil is pretty low grade, very thick, and hard to refine, at one time, the US was the only place that could refine it, that may have changed. I worked in Venezuela for two years, during Chavez and after he died before we got kicked out. Chevron destroyed as much of the equipement it could before hightailing it out, including all the computers and software. Chinese had no clue how to get the drills going, took them a few years I understand.

That gives gives an accurate picture of the attitude of colonial imperialists. The Portuguese took the railway tracks out of Mozambique when they were kicked out.
