Denmark Warns Trump to Stop Greenland Threats in Wake of Venezuela

(Bloomberg) -- Denmark’s prime minister urged Donald Trump to stop threatening to take control of Greenland as the US president’s move to run Venezuela set alarm bells ringing in the Nordic nation about America’s military ambitions.

“I need to say this very directly to the US,” Frederiksen said in a statement. “The US has no right to annex any of the three countries of the Kingdom of Denmark.”

Trump in his fog of ignorance simply does not understand that the only way Greenland could be taken over would be by force, never ever with the will of the Greenlanders. Why would they give up free health care to pay $2000 per month per couple, and be part of a fast declining nation?

That's just the beginning, you become part of America and all of a sudden everything that you need becomes unaffordable and the state takes care of very little.

Trump is not serious about invading Greenland. He was stirring the pot. He did similar with Canada, and it worked. The Canadians immediately increased their defence spending to 2% of their GDP. They are also pledged to reaching 5% quickly and have announced major investments. After Trump's wake up message to Denmark last year, the Danes rediscovered the importance of Greenland and increased defence activity and entered into a joint defence action with Canada for the polar region. Trump's messaging was all about waking these countries up.

You want the first 10 reasons or the next 10 after that? I would only live in the rundown U.S of A for three million dollars a year and then I would only do it for two years and retire.

If you have to ask such a question not only do you obviously not live here, but you just don't have a clue about how incredibly high the quality of life is here for many of us, who absolutely adore this place. It's my number one choice on the planet for a multitude of reasons.

Let's look at a map with the two current and future paths, I.e. the ones Chinese boats can or will be able to use.

It clearly shows which countries are de facto controlling them: Russia and Canada, and the US to some extent.

I also added a map of military bases, and territorial claims.

Greenland doesn't seem to be as strategic as claimed.

China holds much more. I don't see Trump threatening to take over China, do you? I wonder why..

Greenland locals would be given US passports. Develop mining. Build army bases. Lots of jobs! The Danes are useless. What good is a blueberry danish?
