Thailand is setting the stage for the 2026 MotoGP season opener with the PT Grand Prix taking place next month. The thrilling event is scheduled from February 27 to March 1 at the Chang International Circuit in Buri Ram, following a pre-season test from February 21 to 22. At a press conference on Thursday, the ThaiGP trophy was unveiled, marking Thailand's seventh time hosting this prestigious race.

Dr Gongsak Yodmani, governor of the Sports Authority of Thailand, highlighted the country's commitment to high-level sports management. Hosting the MotoGP season opener for the second consecutive year, he said, is a testament to the Kingdom's capabilities. Dr. Gongsak also emphasised the economic benefits, mentioning an expected income boost of over 25 billion Thai Baht through sports tourism.

Tanaisiri Chanwitthayarom, managing director of the Chang International Circuit, stated plans to elevate fan experiences by expanding the fan zone and incorporating new activities. The Thai Grand Prix, debuting in 2018, has become an integral part of the MotoGP calendar, with a renewed agreement ensuring races at the circuit until 2031.

With just weeks to go, preparations are well underway, promising an unforgettable experience for motorsport fans globally. The event underscores Thailand's growing influence in the international sporting arena and is expected to draw significant tourism and contribute to the local economy.
