Hello.

I may, at any time this week, be required to get from Bangkok to Chiang Mai. if it happens, it will be urgent, and extremely so.

My question: Can i get to Suvarnabhumi and just BUY a ticket to get on the very next flight? I think that these planes aren't fully booked all the time? I just went on a Chiang Mai-Bangkok flight last night and it was half empty.

Can i walk up to an airline counter and just say "I need to get to Chiang Mai NOW" and pay with ordinary cash? I don't care what airline and how much it'll cost, but i have no credit card and will only have time to get to ONE airport.

I apreciate any advise, thanks.

Generally not a problem to get on the next flight to Chiang Mai (or the one following that). Only problem these days is that all of the Nok Air flights, all 1-2-Go flights, and half of the THAI flights depart from Don Muang, not Suvarnabhumi.

yes, but I would rather check the timetable as there are 3 ailines departing from don muang, and check with them directly if they have any seats left. Also any nearest to you travel agent will book for you a flight for a small fee

I think you can buy One2go at 7-11 for cash. Check their website. They depart from both airports to Chiang Mai I think. Call their call centre 1126.

You can pay cash for AirAsia by calling their call centre and then going to 7/11 to pay cash.

This way you would have a confirmed ticket before you go to the airport.

It would also make sure you know which airport to go to.

One-Two-GO flights to Chiang Mai operate only from Don Muang. The one domestic service that One-Two-GO operates from Suvarnabhumi is to Phuket (and that just commenced last week).

Thanks for all replies :o

I have saved the numbers in my phone. I knew i can get Air Asia flights at AIS shops, but didn't know 7-11 can also. I guess i can deal with the airline over the phone (i guess they speak english?) but with staff at 7-11 it's more difficult.

Don Mueang would take me two hours to reach, while i can get to Suvarnabhumi in 25 minutes.

I would guess that you chances of getting a quick flight would be better at the new airport with Thai Airways. They charge about double what the others charge and a friend of mine told my their ticket windows had VERY short lines.

I'd agree with Gary. If cost is no object go Thai from BKK. They have a lot of flights and there are always a few seats available if not on the next flight the one in an hour :o
