Thailand pays for Israel’s genocide

Thailand pays for Israel’s genocide

[Opinion. Sale of Israeli weapons funds the bombing and ethnic cleansing. By buying Israeli arms, Thailand has shown us they really don’t care. Nor has Thailand even spoken out against Israel’s war on Gaza or the settlers’ war in the West Bank. Shameful!

Israel’s Elbit Systems was chased out of the UK by Palestine Action.

Do we really need to make enemies of our neighbours?

If Thailand wants to give away money, better it goes to raise people’s living standards.

Why buy weapons at all?]

Thailand primarily buys the IAI Barak MX air defense system, an advanced surface-to-air missile system for protecting air bases against drones, aircraft, and missiles, with recent deals for the Royal Thai Air Force in late 2025 for around $107 million; they also use other Israeli weapons like Rafael's Spike anti-tank missiles and Elbit-based artillery.

Key Israeli Arms Purchases:

Barak MX Air Defense System: The most prominent recent acquisition, purchased by the Royal Thai Air Force (RTAF) to provide advanced protection for air bases from various aerial threats, including UAVs, fighter jets, cruise missiles, and tactical ballistic missiles.

Spike Anti-Tank Missiles: The Thai Army uses Rafael's Spike MR (Medium Range) anti-tank missiles.

Artillery Systems: Thailand also operates artillery systems developed with Elbit Systems, including a rocket artillery system based on the PULS platform and ATMOS 2000 howitzers.

Thailand's military modernization efforts, particularly for air defense, have focused on countering growing regional security concerns, including the proliferation of drones and long-range missiles from neighboring countries.

How is the purchase of defensive weapons making enemies of Thailand's neighbors, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Myanmar? I don't think they care.

Thailand is not giving away money. It is purchasing defensive weapons.

It is purchasing the weapons because the war initiated by Cambodia, shows that Thailand must defend itself.

If you were to share your opinion with Thai people, you most likely would receive a telling off or perhaps a beating. My best friend who is staying with me for a bit has had his whole family run off from their farms which are in the area of the Cambodia attacks. Literally, most of the village had to leave. The villagers are poor, and you expect that they should accept being bombed because you dislike Israel. Please go share your views with the Thai government. Do it at immigration and let's see how much time you are allowed before being asked to go live in your utopia.

Why should Thailand voice an opinion?

Because of Israel's ethic cleansing, the human rights abuses, etc.

This is exactly the problem. You think 'defensive' means blow them up back! That's nonsense. Whatever happened to diplomacy, negotiation, compromise, peacemaking? If you don't know that the fake sabre-rattling with Cambodia, some chest-puffing, was a big nothingburger, to whip up nationalism, I got the Rama VIII Bridge on sale this week.

You're wrong about the Thai-Cambodia skirmishes.

It has a lot to do with Cambodian scam centers (pig butchering, people trafficking in slavery) which account for anything up to 60% of Cambodia's GDP. A lot of pressure has been brought to bear by both China and the US encouraging Thailand in its actions.

There is rumored to be beneficiaries in the scams at the highest political level in Thailand who would love to push back if they could.
