After stamping me in for my 30 day extension the officer handed it over and said that i can only get one more stamp after that.

Has anyone ever had such a comment?

Just some kind of empty threat or do you think they are going to stop granting further extensions on TV's or ???

If you are on a tourist visa, it depends from which country you are, as some nationalities get 30 days tourist visa, which can be extended twice, some get 60 days, only extended once to the full 90 days.

If you are refering to 30 days excempt stamps, you can only stay on these for a maximum of 90 days in any 6 months period, counted from the first date of entry.

if you enter with a tourist visa they'll give you a 60 day entrance stamp. this can be extended for 30 days. after that, you can get another extension of 15 days.

perhaps this is what the officer meant.

In hindsight i really should have had him clarify what he ment, but today was PACKED at immigration and the comment was made as i was walking away.

I think he must have ment what rabbit said. Until now, I was unaware that the TV could be extended by a further 15 days, after the 30 day extension.

PB as on the thread title, it was my 3rd TV. The extension was at CM immigration office near the airport.

Oh, and the officer was very nice. I think I just had a little panic :o

Thank you all for replies, but I really think Rabbit cleared it up.

The above quote if wrong. Some countries get 60 days and others get 30 days on a tourist visa entry. In no case will anyone receive a 15 day extension. After a 30 day extension of stay the maximum that can be obtained, with story, photo, fee and tickets, is seven days.

Tnx lopburi. :D

I think i will just forget worrying about the comment. No point. I'll leave the country in 30 days as per usual for new TV.

Really wish there were some other way :o

..don't want to give wrong information but my friend who is head teacher at a well known language school has been told that one can only get 4 TV in a row. I believe he got this info directly from the immigration office. Has Anybody esle heard of this ?

No - and visas are a matter for The Ministry of Foreign Affairs rather than Immigration.

This is interesting.

Does this mean that if a consulate or embassy in a neighboring country issues a tourist visa, then Immigration have to honour it? Which authority has greater power? How do they work together?

Immigration, as the gate keeper, always has the final say. But the question was about issue of visas and that is done by Consulates and as far as we know there has not been any directive to limit that to any specific number. Prior to October Vientiane was known for setting limits but put away the red stamp this year. The only thing we can say for sure is that things will change, or not change, in the future. Sorry - but at this time we are not aware of any four and walk rule so until official word or actual experiences prove otherwise it is just one of the many rumors that so far have no supporting basis.

On one Penang thread ( http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?sh...&hl=remark), a few posters said they were on 3+ TV and no problems. Granted this was 2 month ago.

iyah, I noticed on one thread you have been in Thailand 2 yr now and that on another thread you are soon off to Vientiane for a TV. May I ask what visa you have had this last 2 year, and have you had any problems? Also wondering if your friend who gave you that info has any 'inside' connections on which to really base that comment on. All info valued. Cheers.

Hi Eek,

I had a non-imm. B visa (and work permit) before that. I'm currently on my first TV, will be going to Vientiane to get a 2nd one.

I don't believe my friend (who told me about this new regulation) has any particular 'inside' connections. Nevertheless, being a head teacher at a 'top' language school, i would assume that the info he gets is somewhat valid and that he gets it from 'the source'. I will ask him again next time i see him. But indeed, a lot of false rumours going around at times, that's why i was asking if anyone esle had heard about this supposely 'new regulation'.

tnx for that iyah.

Yes, its the uncertainty that is the real concern. I really would prefer to know exactly what is what in order to prepare myself.

My nightmare worry is to leave and not be allowed back in!

Well anyway, best of luck with your trip to Vientiane.

Yes Eek, i fully understand your concerns. You have a couple months to find out if this rules is indeed fact or false rumors. I wouldn't worry if i were you. If this end up to be a fact, you will most likely find another solution to stay in the kingdom if you desire so (ed visa for example, such as the one advertise on this forum, might become a solution for many people if this 4TV max thing is fact).

All the best
