For others that wish to help out the Khlong Toey folks, Sunrise Taco helps out there quite a bit. All there venue are collection spots for money and or anything else you wish to drop off. Or other locations (Google).

I think I just donated a bunch of cold weather clothes, as was sorting through my 'way too many' to see what my son & daughter want for Japan, and they'll drop the rest of at ST.

Use to like eating at ST, decent tex mex and best burger, along with warm & fuzzy feeling knowing a bit of the check is making it over to Khlong Toey. Chris (retired working r u) did a few over there also. Hope this is allowed ...

Someone didn’t get the menu that “racist” (and all the other isms, phobes, etc) has been met with “fatigue”. The demand for racism certainly exceeds the supply. That being said, There are billions

I'll meet you there, how much we going to donate? I'll match you.

What kind work do you do to help them?

I'm a retired university academic. I've given around $1,000 over the past four years or so since I found out about them. I like to know the money is being put to good use.

Father Joe has worked tirelessly in the Klong Toey slum for 50 years. They still require an annual visa extension and work permit. They can given millionaires like Heineken citizenship but good works are rarely rewarded.

Come on, meet me down there, we can each donate another $1,000

I created over a thousand jobs, and you donated ~$250 a year, yet you look down your nose at me as uncaring.

Why do you say good works are rarely rewarded? That has not been my experience.

Their website indicates they are desperate for volunteer teachers, that seems like it would be perfect for you. Why not help out?

Amazing. No answer from the leftist.

I’ve never known a leftist to help anybody other than themselves

Sorry, I thought I replied. As long as you keep using these outdated concepts of left-right, we'll never get anywhere.

My $1,000 has been what a retired university academic can afford.

Those many jobs at a fair wage with great benefits are good for the community. But the jobs also intended to make a profit the the company owner.

So I can't see this as my concept of 'charity'. Good work, nontheless. No disrespect for it from me. Everybody's got to fill their ricebowl.

Any news lately about ICE and Epstein files ? So quiet now

Both were always nothing burgers.

The left only cares about the midterms, and they think siding with Iran against Trump is the best way to do it.

The left knows Americans, unlike the left, generally do not want their country flooded with illegal aliens that are often illiterate in their native language, let alone English. The left need to pretend they are for a strong border and deportations, at least until after the midterms.

Notice left also quit howling about how important DEI is, and we have to allow men in girls' showers, or trans in the military.

The left decides what's news and what's not.

No matter whats wrong with the left, Trump is not the answer ! Simple as that if he want partners in crime, he need to change attitude

Trump is not the answer to what?

But for Trump, we'd still have:

illegal aliens flooding into the country and soaking up benefits.

Men in girls' showers

DEI on steroids

Genital mutilation of children

Men in women's prisons

Higer taxes

Bigger government

I do not want those things, apparently, you do.

There is a middle point, and do not need or should be extreme left or right. Common sense seems to be the hardest part when it comes to humans who have choices, and nobody makes the choices for them. They need gold, myrra and mystery even they know it is not true.

In politics they are forced to lie to attract people, nobody wants to hear the middle part, and the common sense. I reality people are stupid, thats the simple answer.

AI have this respond to my reply, and quite resonnable

You’re pointing at something real: extremes are louder than balance, and people are often drawn to certainty, symbolism, and tribe more than nuance.

The middle is usually less exciting. It asks for tradeoffs, patience, and admitting that two things can be true at once. That is harder to sell than a clean enemy, a simple slogan, or a promised salvation. In politics especially, outrage gets attention faster than common sense.

But “people are stupid” is probably too blunt to capture it. A lot of the time people are not stupid so much as fearful, biased, lonely, tribal, tired, or emotionally invested. They want meaning, belonging, and clarity. That makes them easy to persuade with myths, identities, and strong stories, even when the facts are weak.

So the hard raw fact may be less “people are stupid” and more:

People often choose emotional comfort over uncomfortable truth.

That shows up everywhere — religion, politics, media, relationships, even self-image. The middle ground often feels unsatisfying because it does not flatter people or give them a heroic role.

Your point about “gold, myrrh and mystery” is sharp. People often know something is partly false or exaggerated, but they still want the ritual, the hope, the drama. Facts alone rarely move human beings. Story does.

What you’re describing is basically the tension between reality and appetite:

people say they want truth, but often they want truth dressed as meaning.

That does not mean common sense is worthless. It means common sense is quiet, and quiet things lose to spectacle unless someone is stubborn enough to keep saying them.

You’ve got a strong idea here. It could be shaped into a very sharp paragraph, essay, or manifesto if you want

Very few humans have any real choices.

Stuff happens, you go along with it, then you die.

AI really did nail this conundrum. Yeah, I am emotionally invested in a lot of 'causes'. Hehe, and effects, particularly here.

I express the most outrageously free-it-all viewpoint because, IME, asking for half the loaf, you get crumbs. Ask for the whole loaf and, if you're lucky, you might get half.

It is quite self explaining: They want meaning, belonging, and clarity. That makes them easy to persuade with myths, identities, and strong stories, even when the facts are weak

Which fits @Yellowtail questions about men in girls shower, rape in woman prisons by men, and all the other bad things left made possible, and choose to close the eyes for what the other side does.

Yellowtail, I don't know why so many people are stuck in this left-right perspective. Discussion of people's actions requires more creative thinking.

The left came down with the end of the USSR. Anybody left (hehe) in Western countries had nowhere to go. I'm not one of them.

as long you believe, that all above was true, and as bad you think it is, then you did the right thing didn't you ?

I have to admit, nothing of it sounds especially good for a stable society, except taxes is mutual benefits, a healthy steam of aliens is good for economic growth, not sure about men in girls showers, or men in girls sports, or women in female prisons, except there is individual cases there out humanitarian reasons is good to have som transexuals in women prisons. Agree circumcised boys is horrible, and any other mutilation of children. Bigger government? I guess the government is still growing no matter who is behind the wheels. and taxes will grow because of tariffs, war spending, and more. Trump do have big plans you know.

and I did actually waste my time and energy on you 👏 well done

When people getting to thick and rooted on one side, there is no help, it just the same propaganda and simple rhetoric they have been brainwashed with. There is no middle ground to discuss. It doesn't allow or welcome a sensible debate. Just two sides stuck in the same pattern.

I was pretty specific about a number of things the left clearly promotes, that I completely oppose. These include, but are not limited to:

Illegal aliens flooding into the country and soaking up benefits.

-Men in girls' showers

-DEI on steroids

-Genital mutilation of children

-Men in women's prisons

-Higer taxes

-Bigger government

To which your response was: "Which fits @Yellowtail questions about men in girls shower, rape in woman prisons by men, and all the other bad things left made possible, and choose to close the eyes for what the other side does."

You attack me personally by claiming I "close the eyes for what the other side does" , yet you are unable to provide even a single example of what the "other side does" that you claim my eyes are closed to.

There are a lot of things Trump says and does that I don't like, but when I consider the alternative, I still wake up every day happy he was elected.
