British Woman Injured in Pattaya Self-Harm Incident

Featured Replies

A 50-year-old British woman, who was not named by authorities, was rushed to hospital after harming herself inside a rented room in Pattaya on 17 March 2026, prompting an emergency response from police and rescue workers. Officers from Pattaya City Police Station and the Sawang Boriboon Rescue Foundation attended the scene at 15:00 at a property in Soi 5, Pratumnak. The woman was found barely conscious with a deep cut to her left wrist and significant blood loss.

Rescue workers administered first aid at the scene before urgently transferring her to Pattaya Bhattamakun Hospital for further treatment. Broken glass fragments were found scattered across the room, with lots of blood visible across the floor and bedding. Her condition at the time of discovery was described as critical but she was stabilised enough for transport.

According to the accommodation caretaker, identified as Ms Kiwi, the woman had checked in for a daily stay at around 02:00 earlier that night and was due to check out later the same day. During her stay, she was seen crying and appeared visibly distressed, showing clear signs of emotional strain. She had also instructed staff not to disclose her presence if anyone came looking for her.

Shortly before she was due to check-out, the woman requested drinking water and asked staff to contact rescue services, from her second floor room. When staff went to check on her in the room, they discovered a large amount of blood and broken glass, prompting an immediate call to authorities. Emergency responders entered and provided assistance.

Initial discussions by responders, with the woman indicated she had been experiencing stress related to personal issues, along with insomnia. However, the exact cause of the incident has not yet been determined. Police have stated they will contact her relatives and continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the case.

Is this relevant? It's a suicide attempt and there's no need for us to play detective.

The lady 'asked staff to contact rescue services'. That surely indicates that, come the moment, she didn't want to die.

Yeah, so what does that mean?

A painful breakup? A violent ex?

Yeah well, I do like to know what may have happened to lead this woman down this tragic path.

Unfortunately, we never get too many details.

But you're right, speculating is stoooopid.

Or wanted them to find her quickly after she had killed herself. Some people will try to commit suicide in a way their body looks ok , giving them the thought they will look good in death which makes them content. Nobody wants to be found days after in a warm room full off flies , this would be more true in womens thinking.

That comment is quite insensitive and really uncalled for. This woman was in the midst of a severe mental health crisis. Speculating about a 'violent ex' in such a moment is misplaced and shows a real lack of empathy.

I don't think it was lack of empathy.

Anyway, we don't know what we don't know.

But she did make a comment that can lead one to surmise.

Okay, in a way I agree with you. However, if you try to commit suicide, and later involve hotel staff and police as well as a rescue foundation and on top of that hit the tabloids. It might sound weird to you, but I kind of get the feeling that you suddenly made it many people's business.

Well hope she sorts things out

Must be pretty desperate to try and commit suicide maybe just a shout for help

The beginnings of a new novel, 'No Fun Pattaya'.

Oh my God, so many male foreigners arriving here over the years with mental health issues, now foreign women.

Only a few days ago now we had a foreign woman jump off a balcony into the bushes, she has mental health issues

Poor Pattaya

We're all so lucky to have someone who knows her and her situation personally and is able to put a stop to the unnecessary speculation.

The only thing that is weird is your false claim that she involved the police and tabloids, she asked the hotel to get help, that's all that was reported.

Whatever the backstory, I feel so sad that she has no one to talk to or to show some understanding.

I hope she pulls through and goes back to her home country, to the friends and family she appears to need to confide in.

There are a myriad of conflicting emotions taking place at such times. The self preservation side is what leads people to reach out thusly, or at other times the person is simply crying for help rather than actually intending to die. Hopefully now she will be in the hands of caring people. She still has her whole life ahead of her thankfully.

I think we can now be sure of that

That's what happens when you experience catastrophic blood loss. Survival instinct asserts itself, you panic and call for help. If you're lucky help gets there in time.

I don't think I'd feel very safe or reassured being rescued by someone wearing a t-shirt that says, "You are dead." That's taking dark humor to a whole new level.

She made it everyone's business when she made her announcement, and chose to undertake her attention attracting scheme in a third party location.

You've obviously read that slim volume best-seller "What every man knows about women."

The act of suicide, attempted or fulfilled, and the response to it is in the public domain. However, the public has absolutely no right to know why suicide was chosen.
