The site where two fishing trawlers were washed ashore in Ban Nam Kem, a small fishing village of Phang-Nga, by the 2004 Tsunami will be converted to an outdoor museum and tourist attractions. After a meeting of an Historical and Cultural Development Committee, the meeting concluded that the two trawlers will be relocated, just around 100 metres away to be part of the museum. The meeting agreed that the local government of Bang Muang Sub-district will purchase a 5 rai land plot with 3.8 million baht budget before the two boats are removed to the new place by next month. The outdoor museum is planned to comprise a simulation of the Tsunami, exhibition and information centre. A concrete warning tower will also be built so that tourists can also appreciate views around the museum. It is expected to be a tourist and learning site for the visitors.
