Pentagon Seeks $200 Billion to Fund Iran War

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

The perfect off ramp is for congress is to refuse to fund or sanction this war.

Trump has egg on his face and both Iran and America can claim some kind of victory.

Obviously, Trump would have to resign or be removed.

Win-Win all round.

  • No doubt Trump will get his crayon out and draw a nice squiggly picture on it. If Congress has any sense they will reject it and mark it "Must do Better"

Or maybe instead of posting a lame deflection, you start your own thread about what members of aseancom.com are doing to oppose the war.

Yeah, but even though Trump started this war, I'm still not convinced that he is on board with the "forever wars" .... I don't think Trump has the same mentality as the Neo-Cons.

I will still leave some room for doubt that he is trying to extricate the US from that system .... but maybe he has to tie up loose ends first.

The loose end is a loose cannon.

Netanyahu’s war aims are clearly not the same as Trump’s:

“It is “often said” that you can’t “do revolutions from the air”, Netanyahu told a a press conference. “There has to be a ground component as well. There are many possibilities for this ground component and I take the liberty of not sharing [those] with you.”

Trump, meanwhile, claimed he had no plans for the US to engage in such an operation. “I’m not putting troops anywhere,” he told a reporter, when asked about using ground troops. “If I were, I certainly wouldn’t tell you.””

That's why JFK was whacked.

Living vicariously, are you? Hey, so long as you don't have to man up, isn't it wonderful others can go into harm's way for what you believe in?

Scratch a MAGA, find a fat old coward. Seems they don't know the homonym of Jim (hint: it's a place where a person exercises so they don't look like the bloated Trump).

"Globalist cabal"?

Goodness. It baffles me to this day to think there are still people who believe in that sort of thing. It's kind of like the Chemtrail Crowd.....world leaders often hate each other and go to war with each other, but all of them agree not to divulge the great chemtrail thing. Same with aliens....leaders that hate each other all agree to not scare the masses with proof of aliens.

I'm sure a lot of the warmongerers here on AN are getting their checkbooks out to fund the 200 billion.

Maybe the pentagon should open a gofundme ?

What's the cost atm, 1 billion a day? So 200 more days is the plan?

I used to think that too, but it appears things are not that simple.

Just because they don't reveal the real reason they started a war does not (necessarily) mean the war is not justified.

Maybe some things Trump cannot say to the general public because it would undermine national security, for one thing. You don't want to be revealing all your cards to enemies who want you dead ....

You do some of the heavy lifting. Try to come up with a coupla 2-3 reasons they may not state everything explicitly to the public.

Anyway, no matter what Trump says or does, 50% of the US population wants him dead. People wanted him dead before he started the war, so why does he have to explain everything to you? You will still find reasons to hate him and try to get him impeached.

I don't know if this is true, but Saddam was put there by the US/UK ??

And then later when his "useful idiot" role was done, they decided to remove him?

Crazy insane stuff this mad mad world of geopolitics.

If the CIA wants to put you in power, run for your life !!

https://archive.globalpolicy.org/iraq-conflict-the-historical-background-/us-and-british-support-for-huss-regime.html

US intelligence helped Saddam's Ba`ath Party seize power for the first time in 1963. Evidence suggests that Saddam was on the CIA payroll as early as 1959, when he participated in a failed assassination attempt against Iraqi strongman Abd al-Karim Qassem. In the 1980s, the US and Britain backed Saddam in the war against Iran, giving Iraq arms, money, satellite intelligence, and even chemical & bio-weapon precursors.

This is the wrong venue. You should be posting in the fiction forum.

Nah, this is a down payment, there is no plan.

Of course there is a plan. The plan is for Iran to surrender unconditionally right away in the face of overwhelming firepower. If the plan isn't being followed, that's Iran's fault.

And there was also a backup plan. It was for the Iranian people to rise up and a heroically overthrow the government. The Iranian people have left the US government down badly.

That 200 billion USD won't go far. It costs a lot of money to be the most powerful military in the world, even in peacetime, let alone kicking off multiple military excursions around the world.

Meanwhile China is patiently watching and learning all the US capabilities, limits and mistakes in the Gulf. All the while with a tight hand on those rare earths.

Given the United States' demonstrated enthusiasm for starting wars and bombarding largely innocent populations, with no apparent regard for civilian casualties ( sorry, collateral damage, must keep up with Orwellian double speak) then perhaps constraints on replenishing your stocks may not be such a bad idea. Anything to stop you being able to "slap around someone else".

A militarily diminished USA may be of benefit to the rest of the world perhaps?

Do something. You, more than others, would never be able to convince anyone of anything, so you are just wasting bandwidth with the same nonsense you have been posting since your masters decided to hate Trump

Be happy to start with withdrawing from NATO

Many in NATO would probably be, at least, ambivalent, were the US to do so.

Probably the most important principle of a defensive alliance is trust and loyalty. The US has blown that one away.

OK then NATO is done, because we think you guys take advantage of us and are unreliable and snooty. So lets dissolve NATO in a friendly fashion. Like a divorce.

We have made improvements to your infrastructure, how do you want to pay? Do you want to buy discounted equipment in bulk or should we just have a garage sale.

If any individual countries want to bid for a US base let us know.

Infrastructure and bases are governed by "status of forces" agreements. In the case of the UK, the bases remain the property of the host country, and there is no provision for the host country paying the US when they leave. I should imagine the same is true for most if not all other NATO countries.

Any US equipment NATO countries hold is already paid for.

NATO can/will remain without the US.

No I mean buy our equipment. Why haul all those tanks back. Guess we could just unload it as a lot to the Russianss.

Got the agreements you reference?

No problem.

Just ask Trump's supporters and his billionaire cronies to make a substantial contribution - problem solved.
