Group of Thai Men Attacks Japanese Tourist in Pattaya Caught on Video

Featured Replies

Police are actively investigating the assault of a Japanese tourist in Pattaya, Thailand, that gained attention after videos went viral on social media. The footage shows a group of Thai men, including a motorcycle taxi rider, attacking the tourist, identified as 25-year-old Kosei Kanasashi, on a busy road. The incident, which occurred on March 21, left Kosei with severe injuries, including bruises and bleeding, necessitating medical attention.

Clips circulating online reveal Kosei attempting to flee as several men chased and attacked him. Another video shows a motorcyclist knocking him down, after which Kosei managed to get up and continue running. This shocking event unfolded in front of numerous witnesses, including both locals and foreign tourists, who called rescuers to the scene. The rescue team reported that Kosei began vomiting blood due to his injuries, which led to his hospitalization despite his initial refusal of treatment.

The assault is believed to have stemmed from a disagreement over a lost mobile phone belonging to Kosei's friend. Reportedly, the phone was dropped and picked up by a taxi rider who allegedly refused to return it, leading to an argument that escalated into violence. Despite the severity of the incident, police have been hampered in their investigation due to Kosei's reluctance to file a formal complaint or provide detailed information.

Investigations revealed that the attack began after Kosei walked out of Pattaya’s Walking Street and was approached by a group of men near a taxi shelter, escalating into the physical confrontation captured in the viral videos. For now, authorities are limited to collecting evidence as they await a formal statement from Kosei to take legal action against those involved, reported The Thaiger.

This type of 'groups' are hitting the world headlines today! Non dare open their mouth against them.

These fellows are just small fry.

Im shocked. no kicks to the head. You need to do better.

Very bad for the image of Thailand and for tourism.

vile low life Thai scum ,, but they are protected by the police and bribes

There will, as usual, be some who blame the foreigner in any confirmation where a Thai is involved - we see it throughout this forum (from some).

That said - I do wonder what the exact trigger point was... As the story states? Which indicates guys on a hair trigger looking for trouble... Or did the Japanese man create the escalation himself?

Regardless - theres likely more than meets the eye to this story & of course we also have the gang of thugs piling in like rabid dogs - which is not uncommon in these areas. Discusting.

Total group of cowards and losers! Thai´s gathering up! Hilarious! Looks like they do not know how throw a punch anyway. The Japanese guy if still standing after 20-30 punches. Thai style soft punch! 😂 They just made a total joke out of themselves again!

typical Thai ! Attacking always in groups ! Never seen a "one to one" fight...

I wonder how many times this video is being replayed in Japan.

Family Friendly Resort.

Several other words would be "vengeful," "assertive," and "successful."

There is something seriously wrong with the wiring of these people. Takes very little to turn them into savages with little being done to arrest, prosecute and then send them to prison for a lengthy stay.

I'd be really curious to know where else in the world you see behavior like this on a regular basis? Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam - I don't think so.

Never one on one (shouldn’t have even come to blows in the first place). Just like wild rabid pack animals when they see one of their own taking a chunk out of someone. Would really love to see them have a five on five with nobody else joining in, I am sure at least 4 would be laid flat out.

If the Police have video evidence of the assault, why do they need a complaint from the victim ?

The trigger appears to have been a dispute over a lost mobile 'phone. Whatever the reason this will play very badly for Thailand in the media and around the world. I don't remember this kind of violence between Thais and foreigners when I first visited Thailand over 50 years ago. Unheard of in those days.

Agree--suppose the victim is dead and can't file the complaint. Charge them--with or without a complaint filed. And, as always, not a cop in sight to intervene and break up the fight.

These tourist zones are very dangerous places to hang out.

The story does not appear to have all the details. The motorbike taxi refused to return a mobile phone? I don't think they normally steal phones. Something else must have happened.

Walking Street needs to have police patrolling. Come on guys, make a budget for it.

I think the thugs know what they can and can't get away with.

In other words, when the cops do finally come around and inquire about what happened, the thugs know they will need to justify their actions. And I doubt they would get so vicious over a triviality because they know the police would not turn a blind eye or just give them a slap on the wrist.

Since Thailand relies heavily on tourism revenue, if you rack up a bill of 10,000 Baht and refuse to pay, the police will likely turn a blind eye if you got a beating.

I agree- but it would be good to learn what prompted all of this violence in the first place

ah yes the daily bashing clips. What countries are copping it today?

Yes, globally humans have degraded - some of us are "selectively" blind. Disgusting, indeed.

That's your word? A bit of a weak word? I think a better word/s would be, " animals" or "scum" or "insects" etc.

I hope it's on Tokyo news as we speak.
