Dear Folks,

We all recall that glorious day when North Korea successfully tested their first nuclear device.

And, this test was necessarily followed by a second test, required to prove to the world that the first test was no fluke. North Korea could explode a nuclear device, and do it again, and once again.

Now, with continuing and uncontrolled escalation of the Iran War happening, both Israel and Iran are, quite naturally, contemplating employing nuclear weapons.

So, the question here is just one of Iran’s timeline.

What do YOU think?

Do you think that we will see a first bomb test by Iran within the month?

At this point, Iran has nothing to lose, and Israel has seen to this, since it was Israel that attacked Israel, and decapitated its leadership.

Israel upped the level to where use of nukes seems plausible.

When?  Just a question of when.

Here is a very nice vid which discusses this issue of escalation and first testing of Iranian Nukes.

No worries, because the guy Pape is rather learned on the subject, and a prof at the U. of Chicago, and considered an expert in his field.

So, if you want to learn more about Iranian testing and use of nukes, then this vid might be a good place to begin.

Pape states that Iran now has approximately 500 Kgs of enriched uranium.

This is sufficient to produce about 12 nuclear bombs….

Even if Iran probably only needs 5 bombs to accomplish its goals.

So, as I say, this is a lighthearted Topic to consider this week, going into on the of the Hottest HOT Seasons on record. And, there should be plenty of smoke, too, and so please don’t worry about that.

They don't need to. The science behind an atomic bomb using fissile Uranium in a gun-type fission design doesn't need testing - it will just work.
The Littleboy nuke dropped on Hiroshima was this design and it was never tested.

Does it need one - if it can get several hypersonic misisles on the reactor at Dimona it could create a Chernobyl like disaster that would kill thousands and irridiate a large area of Israel for decades. Well Iran has the misisles and has shown they can get the pinpooint accuracy at times and defeat layered Israeli defence so that scenario is now an actualite.

No.

Between 1946 and 1996, approximately 325 nuclear weapons were detonated in the Pacific region by the United States, Britain, and France.

Islands are still there . Rest of the world hardly noticed.

Hiroshima and Nagasaki are rebild.

Now a meld down of israels reactors would get a lot more dirty.

Still we won't notice much of it in Thailand.

Why go nuclear for the bombs ? Iran like Russia are causing far more havoc with their garage made drones that are keeping the US Army at bay...far out of the bay (Hormus strait) that is...😂...all this shows that the absurd demands from NATO or other Trump alikes to increase military budgets are absurd. With less means but more targetted logistics (like drones), one can gain significant tactical advantage in modern wars.

This might be one of the daftest takes I’ve seen in a while, and thats saying something - the logic is fundamentally flawed.

You’re basically arguing that the solution to instability is… more instability. That giving nuclear weapons to more countries in one of the most volatile regions on earth somehow creates peace. That’s borderline insanity.

Mutually assured destruction only barely worked between two superpowers with tight control systems - not a region full of proxy wars, militias, and governments that openly fund armed groups. Iran isn’t Switzerland - It has a long track record of backing and arming terrorist organisations across the region

You want to give nuclear capability to a state that already funds groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and others - and just hope none of that influence ever spills over into something far worse? IMO thats gambling with civilisation.

MAD relies on rational actors. Terror networks aren’t rational in the same way states are. Even analysts point out that nuclear proliferation increases the risk of nuclear terrorism or loss of control over materials

So not... perhaps is not a good idea to take region already full of proxy wars, ideological conflict, and instability… and add multiple nuclear arsenals into the mix. What could possibly go wrong ???
