Shady Oil Bets: Trump's Friends Making Money Off Iran War?

Featured Replies

Well, well, well… what a delightful surprise... the gentlemen are at it again. Truly setting the gold standard for behavior, as always!

Ooooh yes, for the longest time it was Russians, Chinese, Indians and basically every so-called “undeveloped” country under the spotlight. Turns out, reality had other plans.

So much for those fine gentlemen perched so gracefully on their high horses!

Everyone should be making money, it's not rocket science.

Most of my retirement was funded by Bush/Cheney administration. Moved everything over to speculative oil stocks. Bush & Cheney, like they are going to start a war in the M.E. being vested in oil & defense stocks. Even a blind man could see that.

Looks like you missed the point.

The OP is referring to the massive short crude/long equities trade "someone" made Monday at 0650 EST, just 15 minutes before Trump posted his Tweet delaying the striking of Iran's oil production facilities.

That "someone" looks to have made between $2-4 billion in 20 minutes.

The same thing happened when Trump earned his "TACO" nickname, when he changed the implementation schedule of his tarriffs. "Someone" front ran his announcement then, too.

Corruption and self-dealing , in addition to stupidity, are the core attributes of the Trump Administration.

Not missing the point, 'inside trading' as a reality, and I've participated in it often myself. Experienced traders do. Rules are for novice, which experienced traders make their money from.

Only reason I use to follow current affairs, for trading. Why I don't trade now, as keeping up on research, takes too much time, along with time difference USA / TH, as have no desire to be awake during trading hours any more, while living here.

I'm retired, trading is work, and I don't need or want to work.

Insider trading is illegal and can lead to massive fines and prison time. You are describing a practice that is considered a serious financial crime.
The op refers to the same likely illegal insider trades placed 15 minutes before a Trump Truth Social post before last Mondays market open. Once GOP loses control of the house they will go after him and his cronies on this. How come they haven't come for you yet?

So is tax evasion, avoidance to be kind, but everyone does it. Everyone I personally know, inside trades, and how to be very successful. As we all share that info, along with keeping that circle of traders, very small.

You obviously don't trade on that level, or this wouldn't be info to you. It only took me 5 years of trading to retire comfortably. It would take much longer if I bought & held for 30 years. Easily doable, with no risk, for those that don't mind retiring at 60 or 65 yrs old. But not for me.

Not missing the point, 'inside trading' as a reality,

Oh, excellent indeed! That’s exactly how the oh-so-elegant gentlemen parade around... gracefully trotting as if the world is their personal runway.

The world is everyone's personal runway.

Work smarter, not harder. Retire early, or wait a couple more decades, to get put out to pasture, your choice.

'elegant gentleman' ... I like that 👍

Oh yes, nothing says “early retirement planning” quite like a well-executed grand robbery. Why bother with savings and discipline when crime apparently pays so efficiently?

And of course, you did like my description… I mean, how could you not? Brilliant taste, clearly.

I'm not robbing anyone. I'm doing the exact thing, the lawmakers do, who passed the laws, that made inside trading illegal.

Technically, the way I and my brother (and friends) do it, it's not inside trading. We've asked CEO or informed marking directors of a company about a product, and they simply state, we'll announce some 'exciting news soon, so watch out for any news, press releases about it'. Never asking or being told it's a good time to buy or sell.

If not talking specifics, and told to actually buy or sell a position, then it's technically not inside trading. One just has to read between the lines.

I did have one friend who did have a relative that owned a tech company, and knew I trade, told me so. I told him not to tell me anything direct, just state, 'I'm buying this stock option this week, you might want to check it out'. We made a lot of money together.

That's called 'plausible deniability' 😁

At least you are honest about it and states it openly!

Oh yea ... I've cheated on my taxes also. Big time, for years, evaded, avoided paying $1000s. Hate having my tax dollars spent of wars.

It's very likely that Trump and his proxies who are likely his sons and others are making fortunes from this war. We already know that his sons have invested in a drone manufacturing contractor that has already won a contract with the defense department to supply drones for the US Military. Not a coincidence that it was time perfectly with the Iran War.

Don is by far the most corrupt

president in American history and he worships at the golden calf of money, so this creep would do anything to make an extra buck. Integrity, honesty, or done by corruption, none of that means anything to him.

It would not surprise me if he was getting $50 million dollars per pardon, and making billions under the table. That's just who he is and anybody who doesn't realize that is either ignoring the facts, or sweeping those facts under the rug, in a desperate bid to be blindly loyal.

If anyone beleives that anyone else is violating Federal Law it is incumbent on them to file a written accusation/letter complete with evidence to support their allegations.

Really? Because this forum is actually a part of the American legal system? So, what are the legal penalties for not complying with this alleged rule?

What are you talking about? You argue jusst to argue? You know about illegal profiteering? You an American? Send an email to the FBI. Its not a law or rule, its the right thing to do as a patriot. Thats all I was saying. You dont agree that it is the duty of a patriotic American to report this?

If all the allegations of criminality made on aseannow.com were to be sent to the DOJ, they'd have no time for anything else. Sol why the uncharacteristic demand for the kind of high quality evidence evidence in this case? I see all kinds of nonsense in this forum being alleged about stolen elections and other various conspiracy theories. What makes this one special?

Nothing, again you jusst like arguing and its even more apparent. Far as I am concerned, it applies to everything. You know about a crime, report it. Put your name on it. Otherwise its just spew.

And once again, you try and make it about me.

This is a forum for discussing issues that have some political bearing. Based on publicly available information. Based on sources that aseannow.com considers reliable. Your stipulation is actually nonsensical since the kind of information you specify that needs to be reported would be something that hasn't been reported by the media. Unless you think it makes sense for someone to send the DOJ information they acquired from Fox News or the New York Times. But since the source couldn't be validated here, in effect it would run afoul of the website's criteria. Maybe the FBI or the DOJ runs the kind of forum you're specifying? It certainly ain't this one.

Oh. Got it. Folks can make allegations here without a factual basis. Carry on.

One of my very favorite aspects of a Trump presidency is the extent to which a certain category of people descend into all-consuming paroxysmal conspiracy hunts, spending seemingly their every waking moment looking for even the most mundane and arcane ways to twist their (usually inaccurately) perceived bogeymens' behaviors to fit their own narratives.

Do y'all have time for anything else? It must be exhausting.

It's just insane the way the opposition goes on and on about how Trump really won the election thanks to a huge conspiracy based on ludicrous falsehoods involving Venezuelan voting machines, massive numbers of illegal immigrants voting, the Deep State, etc.

The suspects must be Democrat, so Trump will ask the SEC to investigate it!

Oh wait! 😀
