Car Horror In Derby - Counter-Terrorism Police join Probe

Derby Attack.jpg

A counter-terror investigation has been launched after a car ploughed into pedestrians in Derby, leaving seven people injured in what police described as a “horrific” incident that has stunned the city.

The attack unfolded on Saturday night when a black Suzuki Swift drove into people along Friar Gate — a busy stretch known for its bars, restaurants and student crowds. Emergency services were on the scene within seconds, with officers arresting a suspect just minutes later.

Suspect Held — Motive Still Unclear

Derbyshire Police confirmed a 36-year-old local man, originally from India, remains in custody on suspicion of attempted murder, grievous bodily harm with intent, and dangerous driving.

While counter-terror officers have now joined the investigation, police stressed this is standard procedure and the incident is not currently being treated as terrorism. Detectives say they are “keeping an open mind” as they work to establish a motive.

Scenes Of Chaos And Panic

Witnesses described terrifying scenes as the car struck pedestrians before fleeing the area. Footage from nearby shops reportedly shows the immediate aftermath, with victims lying injured in the road as bystanders rushed to help.

Local resident Mark Lucas said people were “over the floor,” with paramedics desperately trying to treat those seriously hurt. Shop worker Eren Celebi recalled hearing “screaming and shouting” before emerging to see chaos unfolding outside.

Despite the severity of the police confirmed none of the injuries are believed to be life-threatening, and there have been no fatalities.

City Left In Shock

The suspect vehicle is believed to have driven through several streets after the incident, prompting a major police response and a wide forensic search. Parts of Friar Gate remained cordoned off into Sunday as officers gathered evidence.

MP Catherine Atkinson said the city was “utterly stunned,” adding that incidents involving vehicles being used as weapons are becoming an increasing concern.

The घटना has reignited debate over public safety in busy urban areas, with calls for a review of measures to prevent vehicle-based attacks.

For now, investigators are urging anyone with dashcam or mobile footage to come forward as they piece together exactly what happened in a night that has left Derby shaken.

The last time the establishment went into an info blackout over a terror incident was the "Welsh choirboy" rampage.

Why does the AI always insert random Hindi words like "The घटना has reignited debate over public safety in busy urban areas, with calls for a review of measures to prevent vehicle-based attacks."

What happened to "carefully curated sources"?

You forgot about Liverpool, and the ex-Marine who rampaged though the scousers. There was a media shut down also then. Selective memory it seems.

If you class clear photos of the guy, a description of white male and his name a "media shut down" well, fair enough.

News blackout continues - so very democratic and transparent. As usual when an "incident" like this occurs, the lefty govt that mass imported them forces a media blackout(often with apalling disinfo such as lying about the perps background ie welsh choirboy) until the initial outrage dies down, then and only then do we get deets.

You made that up. That's not what happened. But why would you know, you're a foreigner living in an Asian country. There were no clear photos of the driver. You're one of the fools who fell for this photo, and nearly a year on, you are still repeating the falsehood.

The Liverpool incident is still called an Attack. Curious why you deliberately ignored it. But it fits with the prejudiced posts you regularly make on the form. Maybe you are not a racist in real life, and this is just your forum persona.

All the police said at the time, about 5 hours after the incident, was a 53-year-old British man from the Liverpool area had been arrested. Doyle wasn't named until about 4 days after when he appeared in court.

Derby police you are accusing, with wickedness and malice, of engaging in a conspiracy.

The incident occurred at 9.30pm 28th March. At 11pm, Derby police issued a statement:

The incident involved a black Suzuki Swift and happened in Friar Gate at about 9.30pm today.

A number of people were injured, some of them seriously, and were treated at the scene by ambulance crews before being taken to hospital.

Police officers stopped a vehicle believed to have been involved in the incident shortly after it happened. The driver, a man in his 30s, was arrested and is in police custody.

Within 90 minutes of the incident, the police confirmed gender and approximate age. Likely the bags in the car had all gone off, and the driver was incoherant. You ill-educated, ignorant nitwits think this is evidence of a <deleted> coverup. No one is named until they are charged. Of course, you will probably claim an advanced level of education, which makes your comments even more egregious and unforgiveable.

At 08:45 the next morning, the police issued an update (see https://www.derbyshire.police.uk/):

The seven suffered a range of serious but not life-threatening injuries and we can confirm that contrary to online speculation, no one died in the incident.

A man in his 30s, who is originally from India, was found a short time after the incident.

He was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, causing serious injury through dangerous driving, inflicting grievous bodily harm with intent, and dangerous driving.

He remains in police custody.

The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing and we are keeping an open mind as to the motives.

Anyone with information that could help our officers with their investigation should contact us using one of the below methods, quoting incident 1131 of March 28

Within 12 hours of the incident, the police confirmed the man's national origins.

The latest update was the 30th March, where the police confirmed his age, and that he was a Derby resident, and inquiries were ongoing while he was in continued detention.

There is a difference between being arrested and being charged. Arresting someone starts the investigatory process, hence CID asked for a extension. Once they have concluded their investigation they will then report to the Crown Prosecution Service, with some sort of recommendation, which could include no charges (eg. if their investigations of the Swift, which does have an electric throttle, showed some malfunction, or if the suspect had suffered some medical emergency. The extension request means that was ruled out). The CPS will then determine the charges, and they will take a view based on public interest, but also the CPS does like to keep their conviction rate up. Ever wondered why conviction rates are mostly over 90%? Nah, because you think everyone who is arrested must be guilty of something.

You are absolutely correct. @SunnyinBangrak just gets his "info" from right wing conspiracy nuts and hasn't got a clue how the UK justice system works.

And lo and behold, charges have been pressed and now his name has been released, as is the way it works. Mr Sunny must now be very happy because knowing his name was very very important.

No mention of when this latest welsh choirboy converted, no details of what he was chanting during the rampage. No hint whatsoever of motive. No wonder sir kiers fanboys are loving this - but it is horrifying.

Release one detail "India" then no more information, hoping that people don't realise India is the country with the largest muslim population in the world.

Same pathetic strategy as mentioning 'Welsh choirboy" or immediately saying an attacker is "white".

No point in arguing on here or anywhere else for that matter. The proof is in the pudding. U.K was a far safer country until it was invaded by the masses of unwashed foreigners from Asia and africa that were allowed in and far worse, allowed to stay and claim benefits. Too late to do anything but suck it up and live in the mess

Unfortunately very true, but the 'thumbs down' muslim loving cucks on this site still believe that having illegal immigrants invade the UK is somehow a positive.
