When breed of dog was it ?

I reckon a big plump Labador would go good in the low and slow grille.

Black or golden?

Asking for my friend, Ploy.

And ?

That is not the question I asked.

The law itself doesn't specifically mention eating, but it's what the trade is for, and why it's illegal. These scum, actually target friendly animals they can easily catch, such as pets and temple dogs. The same thing happens to humans in trafficking here, and all are despicable practices that need extreme punishment.https://netap.ch/en/portfolio/dog-meat-trade/

As a vegetarian I don't eat animals. We're that not the case I would certainly draw the line at eating, amongst others, dogs, cats and horses given their close relationship with humans for thousands of years.

How about budgies?

Or goldfish?

"It is prohibited to engage in animal fighting"

Mmmm, well again here in south Surin and - I think - throughout Thailand EVERY weekend scores of thousands of Thais and millions upon millions of bahts are engaged in cock fighting. Including in my family. It is in fact my b/f's favourite occupation - breeding & selling & betting ... I make sure his betting is very small but his team uses my initials as the team's name & in its advertizing (sigh).

That will go unanswered until someone who speaks to dead dogs chimes in.

Is the son of Sam still alive? David might be able to help.

I once ate, unbeknownst to me, dog meat in a village in the mountains of Luzon. Thought it was very chewy, low quality beef, also expensive.

Was later told that this village was famous for dogs being served as local delicacies.

quote - cooking the meat with herbs and spices

Yum, Yum - just as in Vietnam!

Is Ploy finally waking up? There are dog shelters in Thailand, set up by farangs.

Not any Thai is doing so. Thai people abandon dogs, as they need food.

Female dogs are even worse off, as they give more dogs, not being taken care off.

Nests also disappear somehow. Also set in nature to find their own way.

Once met a whole nest , dumped.

Ploy go to Bangkok, there is gorilla for decades living in a mall, alone !

Gorilla is group animal. Go fight that PLoy !

Ploy go to tiger shelters, as monks are violating proper actions, taking care of them .

Ploy dont whine on social media, ACT.

I did write 'amongst others'.

It is a difficult subject to discuss.

On one hand, dogs are intelligent and are kept as loyal companions by millions, including myself in the past.

On the other hand, they are protein like many other animals that are eaten every day worldwide with no thought about where it came from or how it was treated.

The emotional attachment to dogs is where most people would have difficulty accepting dog meat as a source of protein i suspect.

A cute little lamb bouncing about on a video would melt the hearts of many and then those that said "ahhh" wouldn't think twice about eating lamb the following weekend.

If i was in a position without the means to feed my children protein to keep them healthy and came across a fresh roadkill dog, i would without doubt, use it for a few family meals.

Tell all that to the Khmer peasants of south Surin, including my family. Dog is THE best meal.

Cruelty to animals? What if - as in my family's case - you accidentally killed the dog as you drove at breakneck speed thru a neighbouring village and didn't want to see it go to waste?

I agree, I have had dog meat in Vietnam and it was quite tasty, a little gamie but yummy if cooked right with spices. Thailand's soi dog problem could be solved so easy if dog was added to the menu.

One down, way too many to go.

They haven't told the peasants here in south Surin about it. And I imagine the local cops wouldn't say No to an invitation to join a banquet.

Personally the nearest I've come to joining the more exotic tastes of my family is to eat a couple of mouthfuls of rat. Used to be common years ago to see one of the farm labourers and dog racing between hovels in hot pursuit of a rat.

I didn't say there was a magic wand that cast a spell and no dogs would be eaten. This site should be renamed "Hair Splitting International." Do you seriously not understand the difference between passing a law, and people breaking it???

who in Thailand gives a <deleted> about laws?

Jesus. All I said was, "For people wondering..." ... Pardon the pun, but I don't have a dog in this fight.

So, cooking and eating dogs is a crime, but cooking and eating pigs, cows, chickens, fish, and vegetables is okay? 🤔

Only if you know it's name !

Golden.... probably easier to tell when they are done!

What difference does that make to the dead dog?

That,s a similar comparison to what difference it makes to a dead human. Go figure it could be your mum.

Um, as between a cannibal and a cat I'm thinking that a cannibal would be preferable. But that's probably just a prejudice based on the past history of H. sapiens.

Consumption not mentined.

Based on this law, many Thai's and dog owners in the should be charged with animal cruelty - "abuse and neglect" without "sufficient food or shelter" and "abandoning animals and unwanted pets at temples" all seem to be the norm in the villages I have seen.

It's quite common in China. I won't tell you how they make sure the meat will be tender, as it's horrendous.
