Featured Replies

Two women were killed after a train struck them at a railway crossing in Na Jomtien, Chonburi, in the early hours of 5 April 2026. Police were alerted to the fatal crash at 04:50 at the Huai Yai railway crossing, kilometre marker 164/701, in Bang Lamung district. Both victims died at the scene after being hit by a passing train.

Investigators found a white Honda Giorno motorcycle with Rayong registration plates damaged and lying beside the track. The first victim, a 17-year-old Lao national, was discovered near the railway line heading towards Sattahip. About one kilometre away, an oil freight train, numbered 4504 and travelling from Bang Phra to Huai Khwang station, was located with human remains found on the front of the locomotive.

A second female victim, whose identity remains unknown, was also found dead at the scene. According to witnesses the railway barrier had been lowered at the time of the crash. The train driver reported seeing what appeared to be an object on the track moments before the train passed through the crossing.

A railway crossing attendant said CCTV footage showed the motorcycle crashing into the lowered barrier as the train approached. Both the rider and passenger were thrown onto the tracks and were struck by the train, resulting in their deaths.

Police documented the scene and secured CCTV footage as evidence as part of their investigation. Rescue workers transported both bodies to a hospital, where authorities are awaiting relatives to provide documentation and claim the remains for religious rites.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns over safety at railway crossings, particularly during low-visibility hours. Authorities are expected to review the circumstances surrounding the crash, including compliance with crossing signals. Officials will continue gathering evidence and statements before concluding the case.

Shocking....RIP to the ladies involved......☹️

WTF, they had time, why didn't they pool them away from the tracks?

Was thinking the same. Train seems to be moving quite fast, and a bit surprised going that fast.

Two females on the scooter hit the barrier at speed both thrown onto the train tracks and then hit by the train quite horrific...the guy in the video uhm and ared too long, had time to drag one victim off the tracks not blaming him probably just stunned into inaction.

The oil train doesn't really go super fast (I see it almost every day from my balcony)

I think the close camera position makes it look faster than it is.. not slow but not intercity 125 speed ....but in any case there is no way the train could have stopped in time.

R.I.P to the victims..

This is the second accident involving female cyclists and trains at crossings in darkness in this area. In May last year, a 20‑year‑old woman was seriously injured and lost a limb.

One has to wonder whether it's down to people's attitudes at rail crossings, or whether there is a systematic problem with the crossings themselves, especially at night.

I think its a problem with the drivers /riders more than the crossings

Especially in this case the barrier had came down the lights flashing

other vehicles stopped...but two young woman on a bike just ploughed straight into the barrier doing a WWF pole axe summersault onto the train track... quite astounding.

I saw a similar action one evening on the Hay Yai road, a bike undertook me and about 100 meters ahead ploughed straight into a sidecar combo that was crossing at a T

junction, didn't even appear to brake or manoeuvre..just blam straight into the sidecart...with added 'Superman'. 10/10 for idiocy!

Probably looking at her mobile. She must have looked ahead and saw flashing lights with other traffic stopped but was to busy to slow down plus she was traveling at high speed towards a barrier.

Explain to us how she can hit a barrier with stopped traffic and flashing lights ?? come on explain it.

Flashing lights and audible warning..... what on earth distracted the driver.

Grisly.

What are you talking about, there was only 20 seconds between them hitting the barrier and the train passing!

They had 20 seconds to do something in the face of an oncoming train they could see and hear, what do you expect people to do?

Had time? What? They had 20 seconds for God's sake and they could see the oncoming train about to hit them also.

Well, one has to wonder what you think it was in this case? The lights were flashing, the warning bells were ringing, the barrier was down, the oncoming train could be seen and heard approaching and all the other traffic had come to a halt.

Here is a thought seconds after they hit the barrier a motorbike was behind them, were the being chased, hence all the shouting ?
