I am holding Hong Kong Special Administrative Region passport

My current passport does not get 6 valid month (4 months left) and I am applying a new one.

If I arrive Thailand with my old passport, can I pass Thai immigration?

Will I be subjected to any charges or penality? iF yes, what will it be?

Afaik, you aren't allowed to enter, if they spot it.

If airline is doing their job you won't even get on the plane much less get to Thai immigration.

I was returning to Bangkok from Sydney last year with 7 months remaining on my US passport and agent at checkin advised me to renew before to late. She commented that if it had been less than 6 months the only flight I would be catching would be back to the US.

The IATA visa database, which is what airline clerks check, says:

"1. If holding Hong Kong (SAR China) passport or Macao (SAR China) passport, both of which must be valid at least 30 days: visa not required for a max. stay of 30 days, provided coming for touristic purposes.

Extension up to 10 days is possible. Fee THB 500.- (1 photo required).

If passport is valid less than 30 days, stay will only be permitted up to the validity of the passport.

Note: there is a max. limit of a total of 90 days stay within any 6 month period.

Return/onward ticket is required."

IATA ha nothing to do with Thailands rules.

IATA gets there information from Thailand and is what the airlines base there requirements on. There are many exceptions to the six month validity rule and Hong Kong is one of them. The US is another; along with many others.

The are a couple of years behind in the fees. The extension isn't 500 baht it is 1900 baht.
