Trump Reveals Dramatic Rescue Of Downed Airman In Iran

‘Dude Bravo 44’ Survives Behind Enemy Lines

Donald Trump has revealed gripping new details of a high-risk rescue mission deep inside Iran, where a badly wounded U.S. airman survived nearly two days while evading capture.

The F-15E weapons officer — known by the call sign “Dude Bravo 44” — was left stranded after his jet was shot down, suffering serious injuries and bleeding “profusely” in hostile territory.

Alone, armed with just a handgun, he climbed into mountainous terrain and hid in a crevice, following survival training as Iranian forces closed in.

A 36-Hour Fight To Stay Alive

According to Trump, the downed colonel endured nearly 48 hours behind enemy lines in an area “teeming” with fighters linked to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.

Iranian units deployed sniffer dogs and launched an intense manhunt, reportedly offering incentives to capture him.

Despite his injuries, the airman managed to move away from the crash site — a critical survival tactic — and eventually transmitted a brief radio message: “God is good.”

The phrase initially raised fears of a trap, but U.S. forces quickly confirmed it was genuine and pressed ahead with the rescue.

Massive Rescue Operation Launched

The response was extraordinary in scale.

Trump said 155 aircraft were involved, including bombers, fighter jets, refuelling tankers, and rescue units — forming one of the most complex combat search-and-rescue missions ever attempted.

CIA Director John Ratcliffe said intelligence teams ran a deception campaign to mislead Iranian forces, using both human assets and advanced technology to locate the stranded airman.

Aircraft flew low through hostile airspace, taking fire in the process. “We got a helicopter with a lot of bullets in it,” Trump said.

Rescue Nearly Ends In Disaster

The mission came close to failure at the final moment.

Rescue teams landed in an agricultural field and assembled helicopters on the ground, but struggled to take off again when the aircraft became bogged down in wet sand.

“We had all the men jumping back onto the planes, and they got pretty well stuck,” Trump said, describing a tense scramble before a contingency plan finally got them airborne.

Against the odds, the team escaped without fatalities.

‘Welcome Home’ — A Mission Against The Odds

Joint Chiefs Chairman Dan Caine praised the airman’s “absolute commitment to surviving,” calling it the decisive factor in the mission’s success.

Trump admitted some military leaders opposed the operation, warning it risked hundreds of American lives.

“Not everybody was on board,” he said — but the gamble paid off.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth claimed Iran was left “embarrassed and humiliated” by the daring rescue.

For the man at the centre of it, the ordeal ended at sunrise on Easter Sunday — wounded, but alive.
