Tv Stalkers

Featured Replies

Another thing that came from my meal last night was the turnup that the member in question must have read the vast majority of my posts on TV. I'll admit that I have been very/too open about my personal life on here & I actually regret some of that openness now. However, I haven't put everything in one post - there's been bits here & bits there, where they fit with the thread discussed. But this guy knew everything. He was a very nice guy & so was his wife, don't get me wrong, but the idea that someone could actually be singling out & filing my posts to memory felt a bit weird. I know I'm not the only one. For instance, I've noticed that a certain Thai lady member is singling out one of our newer male Bedlamites for her admiration & demanding to know where posts of his (that she missed) are.

I'm not suggesting that this is anything other than some members finding someone on their wavelength, but I've never searched out another member's posts, although if I see someone I like has done the last post in a thread, I'll often take a look.

So, is it flattery or is it weird?

A bit of both I think. Maybe this couple is just interested in you and your background purely out of honest interest.

I mean if I were invited by a fellow TV member I would probably do some research on this forum as well, prior to the meeting, just to be a little more informed about the backgrounds and history of that member and his/her views to certain subjects.

I don't think you can call them stalkers since all three in the party liked each other....but that's my own opinion

But they will be reading this as well, don't you think so ? :o

Sorry, LaoPo, that obviously came out wrong. I used the word "stalker" as it is often bandied about on TV (as is troll). I don't mean "stalker" in the real life sense of the word. No alarms rang, or anything. It was a lovely evening with a nice couple. I just don't get why someone would read most of what another member has written.

heres my take in response to your second more clear comment:

think of it as those of us that like to watch TV programmes or movies....wouldnt people go to watch a Spielberg movie just cos hes the director? wouldnt many of us watch Star Wars just cos the name itself guarantees certain something we know we are sure to enjoy?

or why do we watch the comic-characters-turned-movies, or books turned movies? cos we expect to see some of the whatever it is that we like in the original form to carry across to the next.

same way if you like first post by someone, and if you see more and more of them (ie. they post regularly enough that you come across their post again), or even if you see only one of their post but you really liked what they said, admired it, or felt you could relate to similar thinking....then theres a chance you'd want to see what else they have to say on other issues.

if that makes sense.....and answer your question? :o

Maybe because of what I wrote in post #2 ?

No "stalking". Most of us know that if you get in a spat with another member, it is a good idea to click the button that shows all their old posts so that you can see how consistant they are and where they are really coming from. You can get a lot of ammunition knowing your enemy.

I do it every time someone pisses me off. :o

Let me level with you, your all really weird!

:o

My point of view would be closest to Mig's ideas.

There are several posters I will read when I see their nick because they are consistently informed/interesting/witty.

There are one or two others I would put on "ignore" if that functioned fully.

LP has a point , with the caveat that a forum persona may well be just that.

UG looks at it from the combative viewpoint.

There are some posters seemed to be deeply interested in "counting coup" on other members , relish real or imagined successes and generally are p*ssing contest specialists.

I am NOT including UG in this category , mind you he is tenacious in a debate. If he gets his teeth in one end of the bone there ain't no way you are going to end up with it.

Dogs, bones, really farangsay you are a giving me good storyline visuals....I really do not pay any interest in pishing contests as I am usually pished so in reality the amount of beer consumed I would win!

Is there some sort of coup on at present? If so are their any PM amongst it heading for our fair english shores? I always miss these so called ganging up on people stuff, but it does happen, its best just to get to thepoint and tell someone to <deleted> off and forget it rather than drag it out into some vendetta would you say?

On a lighter note just finisshed this book, Cormac McCarthy writes in such a manner that the images you get are so vivid in ones mind.

I must say NR, you're posting some interesting threads of late...

I echo what others have been saying. There are many tv members who's posts I like, so if I see they've posted I'll check out what they've said just out of curiousity. I hope I'm not stalking anyone!!! :o

You could have changed back to the "stuffed toy" avatar before you posted that !

How very dare you! I don't know what you're saying! :D:D:o

I guess I know quite a bit about your good self NR, simply because I often read what you have to say, whereas I skip through a lot of others.

I know that you have had a bad day recently, also a very interesting dinner party, your dogs have gone through a serious distemper out-break etc etc,

I also believe you have had a fire fight in the other place, I must catch up with that thread, and give old Robbo a kick, particularly as he doesn't know who I am over there :o

But I assure you I am not a stalker of yours, just a cyber friend :D

Good luck

Moss

Ah, Moss is such a nice guy!

Ah, Moss is such a nice guy!

Jeez , I must be getting in touch with my feminine side because I find this rather sweet.

:o

I won't get me coat because I'm already wearing it from another thread.

Thanks for the replies. I have phrased the OP wrong, obviously, as this wasn't about me - it was just an example to try & launch a discussion. Moss, the firefight wasn't on the other forum - I don't post there - just another forum. :D

So, the consensus, so far, is "highest compliment", is it? Apart from coldcrush - whom, I have to admit, as usual, I didn't fully understand :o

You can get your hat as well!

I've never been stalked.

What do I have to do to get attention?

What do I have to do to get attention?

For the past few threads I feel I've been stalking you!

I never deliberately "stalk" posters but will read those of people I know when I see them. Strangely enough I follow those of people I'm not keen on as well. It's a bit like watching Fox News, there's definitely an adrenalin rush caused by outrage :o .

I like to read the posts by our lady members as well. I don't personally know any Western women in Thailand and I enjoy the insight into how they cope with living here under what must sometimes be difficult conditions.

Patsy, you don't know how close to the truth that post is :o

In the context that I'm talking about, where an admirer reads everything you post, then yes you have, Herr qwertz. And, no, I'm not talking me - I don't read everything that anyone writes. I don't even read everything I write when I've had a bevvy or two. :o
