Trump Blasts Iran Over Hormuz As Ceasefire Starts To Fray

Trump Accuses Iran Of Breaking Deal

Donald Trump has accused Iran of violating the terms of the fragile ceasefire, warning its handling of the Strait of Hormuz is “not the agreement we have.”

The president said Tehran was doing a “very poor job” managing tanker traffic, amid reports it may be charging ships for passage — a move he bluntly warned “better stop now.”

The comments underline how quickly the truce is beginning to strain.

Confusion Over Ceasefire Terms

Disputes are emerging over what the agreement actually includes.

Iran and mediators suggested the ceasefire extended beyond the Gulf, while U.S. and Israeli officials insisted it does not cover Lebanon — creating immediate friction.

That confusion has already had consequences.

Following Israeli strikes, Iran briefly halted shipping again through Hormuz and threatened retaliation, exposing just how fragile the arrangement remains.

Israel Keeps Pressure On Lebanon

At the same time, Israel is pressing ahead on a second front.

Benjamin Netanyahu confirmed plans for direct talks with Lebanon, focusing on disarming Hezbollah and establishing longer-term stability.

But he made one point clear: “There is no ceasefire in Lebanon.”

Israeli strikes have continued, including heavy bombardments around Beirut, even as officials signal a possible “scale back” to support upcoming negotiations.

Civilian Crisis Deepens

The fighting is taking a growing toll on civilians.

Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus warned that evacuation orders in parts of Beirut could overwhelm hospitals, with hundreds of patients — including dozens in intensive care — unable to be moved.

Lebanon has reported more than 300 killed and over 1,000 wounded in recent strikes, adding to a mounting humanitarian crisis.

Diplomatic Push Faces Reality

The U.S. is now attempting to bring Israel and Lebanon to the table, with talks expected in Washington.

But the prospects are uncertain.

Lebanon’s government has limited control over Hezbollah, despite efforts to restrict its military activities. Meanwhile, Israeli forces remain entrenched in parts of southern Lebanon.

A Ceasefire In Name Only?

The broader Iran ceasefire is already showing cracks.

Trump says Israel will “low-key” its operations, but strikes continue. Iran, meanwhile, is still using its control of Hormuz as leverage — tightening or loosening access depending on events.

A Region On Edge

What was billed as a breakthrough now looks increasingly unstable.

With multiple fronts, unclear terms, and rising tensions, the ceasefire risks becoming little more than a pause in a widening conflict.

For now, the deal holds — just.

But every side appears to be testing its limits.
