i have been a christian all my life. i think buddhism is interesting and that it is also very good and helpful for the human spirit and has many good points, but obviously not 100%.

i have several thai friends, but i dont know what is the best way for me to teach them about my religion? i think an english bible will be too hard for them to understand and i dont know how to convey the message in thai.

are there some church in bangkok that i can take them too?

what is the best way to approach them about learning about Jesus and God?

Thank You

Siamsquare, the missionary? Interesting idea. From previous posts, I thought it was only the missionary position you were interested in (for your many female 'interests' & your uncle in law) :o

I don't see the reason why you would like to indoctrinate them religiously. Let them be who they are. If they become interested in the subject there are popular books. Many thai are aware of chritianity, even from the american movies, but all those orthodox religions don't have any appeal for the younger generations.

Just in case SS is serious, IMO the best way to teach anything is by example.

That's why the Christian missionaries have a low conversion rate.

i have many great friends here and id like to see some of them in the afterlife, if you know what i mean.

We can arrange that if you would like...

Just in case SS is serious

Somehow i doubt he is serious

I guess at your next visit at Soi Cowboy, after dryhumping your wife's uncle - you could just stand there with the other missionaries and scream your lungs out.

Start with "The Passion of the Christ" very Zen, a nice transition to our cult.

Also here's one of the more prominent Christians around, George W. Bush (righteous guy from Texas, kind of) doing his WWJD (what would Jesus do?) routine, trying to eliminate appeals for death row inmates.

Hey, you started the wind-up! That's about all I got tonight, though.

I've quite a few niggling problems with Thailand, nothing major, else I wouldn't live here. The indigenous majority religion here, the practice of it and the lack of evangelism involved with it, is probably the last thing I could imagine candidly criticizing. Not out of politeness, just principally.

Aw man you had me going there for a sec, thought you were serious! See them in the afterlife, man thats a good one! Sad part is many people believe that, they smile sadly at their heathen friends (who maybe save thousands of lives every year or volunteer all their time to take care of cancer children or something) thinking "too bad he's going to burn in hel_l for eternity since he doesn't believe in the True God.... so sad" .

of course he's being serious. Siamsquare is always dead serious about everything he posts. :o

The best manner in which to indoctrinate people is of course the way that one of our former members used to do.

Stand in and around Soi Cowboy screaming your religious people at decibel levels to rival a harrier jet taking off.

I firget the link, but we did used to have one to a vdo on youtube.

This religion of yours requires Thai people to read a book. Good luck on that one.

Many times on this board I have come to the defense of visa runners, Chang gangers, deadbeat Dads, "poverty packers", fans of Weho, friends of Dorothy, rabid soi dogs, Canadians, and other assorted flora and fauna. I draw the line at missionaries. I wonder why the Thai government would allow this?

Look what happened the last time Westerners tried to convert Thai's to Christianity.

The French first arrived in 1662, during the reign of Ayutthaya's most outward-looking and cosmopolitan ruler. King Narai (1656-1688). French missionaries and merchants came to the capital, and during the 1680's splendid embassies were exchanged between King Narai and King Louis XIV. The French tried to convert King Narai to Christianity and also attempted to gain a foothold in the Thai kingdom when, in 1687, they sent troops to garrison Bangkok and Mergui. When a succession conflict broke out in 1688 an anti-French official seized power, drove out the French garrisons, and executed King Narai's Greek favorite Constantine Phaulkon, who had been championing the French cause. After 1688, Ayutthaya had less contact with Western nations, but there was no policy of national exclusion. Indeed, there was increased trading contact with China after 1683, and there was continued trade with the Dutch, the Indians, and various neighboring countries.

If this is a serious thread, and I not sure if it is, just suggest that your friends read the bible and make their own minds up! No need for the 'shouting evangelism' suggested by others on this thread. There is no scriptural justification for the 'shouting evangelism' that goes on, and there's no way it's the most effective form of conveying information.

yeah, but tiggy, did you see the youtube vdo that was linked here a few months ago?

There are a number of Thai Christian churches in Bangkok, such as the Hope of Bangkok Church. They all tend to be somewhat evangelical fundamentalist in nature, almost as close to an animistic version of Protestantism as is Catholicism in South America.

Personally, I find the these evangelical Thai Christians to be nucking futs and clearly not 100% in my book, but then I find most evangelicals to come up a bit short upstairs. May I suggest you listen to some of Pat Condell's brief comments on Youtube (if available) or also to be found on other websites.

If this is a serious thread, and I not sure if it is,.......

I'm afraid its not Suegha; the OP is pulling a leg or 2, 3 and intending to pull them a loooong way.

Have a look at his last posts and topics; that says it all, but to start a topic about Christianity and telling: "being a Christian all my life" and fooling around at the same time is simply 'not done'.

A man who writes this is an (censored by myself):

"...I wink at my wife and walk up to him [uncle of his wife] and I take a hand ful of the chillis and I put them in my mouth. I say "farang chomb gin pet". Then I spit all of them into his face. He takes three steps backwards and fall down. Then I jump ontop of him and start dry humping him there in the dirt and make sexual noises. then the stray dogs start licking his face. I get up and say "Dont ever try to pick on my wife or her father or our family again". I had my wife translate it for him so he knew what I said.

You guys should have been there. Thailand is the greatest country on earth and I love my wife and her family and will do anything for them. Here is to Thailand! I am hitting up cowboy tonight if anyone wants to do the town."

It's: :D

Sorry for my post and I apologize, but as you hopefully know, I'm doing so only on very rare occasions; this is one of them. :o

edit:

I don't know what kind of man poster SiamSquare123 is, but creating a topic with weird content and than stay away (see link with 6 pages/83 comments) says a lot...

If you look at the OPs posting history, there is nothing to suggest that what he says is true. I'd like to comment on a topic like this, but I won't, at least to the OP.

Edit: Jingthing, how do you think Buddhism got to Thailand in the first place? Missionaries, my friend. Buddhism is a religion that accepts all religions on principle. So, you're wrong. You're not the one who draws the line, anyway, the Thai government is, and they won't, as that is not the spirit of this country.
