Bangkok bank london to bankok bank Thailand

Featured Replies

My UK pension provider pays into Bangkok Bank London. From there it is paid into my Bangkok Bank here. In my bank book it shows as transfer which implies it is a transfer within Thailand. My annual visa- non O retirement - was initially refused as neither the statement of income ( bank) nor my passbook indicated foreign transfers. No paperwork showing the origin being provided. Decently enough the IO made a phone call to my bank here and gave me my extension. Subsequently I visited head office in Bangkok. Confusion ensued with staff running around in droves waving my bank book chattering like magpies reluctant to believe that credit advice papers are not provided. They then informed me that the numbers code next to the incoming monthly transfer would indicate the scource. It does not. This number is the branch number. There is it seems a hole in the system. My local branch wants nothing to do with the problem simply asking about credit advice papers ( monthly) wich don't exist. Any advice would be most welcome

I've seen on this site many times recently that if the bank statement is in Thai the transfers would be shown as being from abroad. (Not sure about from BBL London though)

Where is the conversion taking place? I would guess that Bangkok Bank in London is converting to Baht and then transferring, rather than sending as Pounds and allowing the conversion to take place in Thailand.

Of course I could be wrong. Check it for yourself.

I get an automatic credit advice emailed to me every month, you just have to ask them to set it up for you.

That's a peculiarity of Kasikorn Bank only I believe.

Thank you to those who responded to my post. This will require a short( ish) explanation. I obtain my annual visa renewal using the income method. Amongst a host of papers to be provided is a list of 12 monthly debits and credits within my account. This comes from head office. I hand this to the IO. It is handed back immediately. The IO is only interested in my bank book records. Examining the 12 monthly accounts from head office I found a brief note next to the transfers from London saying where the money was sent from. This obviously did not correspond with the notation in my bank book. Problem solved. It is sad that neither head office nor my local branch understand their own system.

You may well be right. When I made transfers from my UK bank account to my BBL account through their London branch (up until the time they required me to jump through a number of hoops with zero advance warning), I opted for GBP-to-THB conversions to be performed at the Bangkok end, which resulted in transfers being coded FTT (standing for Foreign Telegraphic Transfer) in my passbook.

In any event, it would appear that the OP's situation has now been resolved.
