SCB Easy app personal data

Featured Replies

I opened the app this morning to add 200 Baht in credit to my phone and, as soon as I'd entered the passcode, it took me to a questionnaire. I assumed it was the usual security thing about how often you change your passcode and so on, but no, this was a multiple page questionnaire demanding all manner of information.

The first page was already completed with passport number, address, home country, and so on, so I moved on to page 2. That one's about employment and income information. The only thing filled in was the first entry on occupation which said 'UNEMPLOYED'. I had a look at the drop down list but didn't see 'RETIRED' so I left it at that and pressed next to move on, but it wouldn't let me. In spite of my occupation being stated as unemployed it insisted on me filling in my employer's details. Typical Thai third-world app nonsense, but the questionnaire had locked up the app and there was no way to get out of it and back to the payments. There was a message at the start saying if any details are wrong you should contact a bank branch, but that's not much help in the middle of the Songkran holiday. Maybe there's a branch in a mall somewhere that's open, but I'm not going trekking around them looking, and the branch I use on Pattaya Beach Road would certainly be closed.

I ended up going to app management on the phone and force stopped the SCB app. That worked, anyway, and when I fired it up again I was able to top up my phone, but I suspect the stupid questionnaire will soon reappear. I noticed below the occupation and employer's details boxes there was a section on income, so this looks like it's probably for tax purposes.

Has anyone else had this questionnaire appear in the SCB app, and did you have any more success than me in entering the data?

I vaguely remember someone or some people mentioning this some time ago in a thread but not sure if it was SCB or another bank.

(sorry appreciate that is not overly helpful)

I stopped using SCB after they stopped allowing use of the app unless you follow their criteria of not using a VPN / Tailscale and a bunch of other silly rudimentary checks instead of using Androids built in attestation.

Or for credit application purposes.

Same with TrueMoney. Their recommendation for retired people was to select "Unemployed", write "Retired" as employer name and your residential address (again) as employer address. Retarded, yes.

Thanks, that's useful if it shows up again.
