The normal IRS tax filing deadline is April 15. NOW.

As expats, we automatically get an extension until June 15.

However, if you want much more time until October 15, you need to file for an extension VERY SOON.

That's April 15 from wherever you are on April 15, NOT automatically eastern U.S. time.

I think you can use a VPN though and set it to east coast to get more time.

Anyway, right now it's close to 9 PM April 15 Thailand time.

That means if you don't use a VPN you only have THREE HOURS to file for an extension until October 15.

Do so on any efile service you've been using or if none, I suggest taxact.com

However, taxact is a little tricky. To find the path to the extension part you need to first manually look for that (from prompts on the left).
