Five people died when a drone strike hit a group near a mosque in Beit Lahia on Wednesday evening. Among them were three boys aged nine, 12 and 14, identified by local journalists alongside two adults.

The Israeli military said it targeted a “terrorist” who approached troops near the so-called Yellow Line, describing the strike as a response to an “immediate threat”.

Families Confront Devastation at Hospital Gates

By morning, bodies wrapped in white shrouds were laid out at al-Shifa hospital, where grieving relatives gathered. Amna al-Abed said she found her two sons dead after fleeing heavy shelling, while her husband lay wounded nearby.

Another relative said bluntly: “There is no ceasefire, no truce… no safety in any area,” capturing a growing sense of collapse among civilians.

Second Strike Kills Rescuer as Questions Mount

Hours later, three more men were killed when shellfire hit a car in the Maghazi area, according to Gaza’s Civil Defence agency. One of the dead was identified as first responder Hazem al-Aidi.

The Israeli military said it was reviewing the incident, as scrutiny intensifies over strikes hitting both civilians and emergency workers.

Ceasefire Under Strain as Casualties Rise

The latest deaths come despite a ceasefire in place since October, which both Israel and Hamas accuse each other of violating. Gaza’s health ministry says hundreds have been killed since the truce began, while Israel reports continued attacks on its forces.

With the war’s overall toll already in the tens of thousands, each new strike is tightening pressure on fragile negotiations—and eroding what little confidence remains in the ceasefire holding.

There is nothing in this report that suggests the children slaughtered by Israel posed any kind of a threat.
