TDAC.....Am I the last to know?

Featured Replies

Last two times I came in while holding a re-entry permit, I never filled out the re-entry number on the tdac.

Both times the immigration officer correctly processed the entry with the stay until date correct as per the re-entry stamp.

It is also a bit simplified compared to the tm6 days, as now for most folks there are a lot less stamps in the passport, as exit is handled by the automatic gates (without stamp).

So less rubbish in the passport for the IO to go through and way easier to catch the re-entry, it is a pretty big stamp 😉

Additionally, when I come in on a re-entry, I never fill out the leaving date/flight (even if I know it), so if "the system" would follow the info on the tdac strictly, you couldn't even get the 60 day excempt entry, as return ticket would be needed!

It is not "the system" which processes your entry, but a human immigration officer!

Only exits are handled by an automatic system, it only checks you are not on overstay and registers your leaving date.

It's an optional field. If it was required then it would be a required field. Nothing will happen if you leave it blank. The immigration officers don't look at your TDAC, they just see if you submitte

Correct. But nothing will happen if you don't.

Sounds like nonsense. I would have thought the bio page (which is scanned) will pick up the true Immigration record.

About 2 weeks ago I arrived back in Thailand from Japan. I have a non-o visa with a retirement extension. I entered Thailand using my re-entry permit. I did not enter anything into the area where it asked for visa number on the TDAC. I had no problem going through immigration. They didn’t even take my fingers.

Very fortunate - you'd have been struggling to type your response...

On topic: Two points:

a) Always check the stamp / dates etc.

b) There is no auto-rentry booths for foregners - this is the reason why.

But, it 'could' be the case in the future. In other nations, foreign nationals have a residency card etc - on e-gate entry, their data is scanned an auto-registered.

This would render the TDAC moot - for non-tourists etc... I think we could end up with two tiered entry in Thailand.

Tourists using the TDAC - and those on Non-Imm or equivalent Visas etc who are eligible for e-gate entry.

Those holding passports from Hong Kong or Singapore would disagree with you.

Have arrived at Suvanabhumi several times during the past nine months (including twice from Japan) on a retirement extension with re-entry permit. Never filled in the TDAC field with the visa number (in the old days with the TM.6 I used the re-entry permit number). However was fingerprinted each time, though rather inconsistent: last entry they did not require (or forgot?) the thumb prints.

If it was required, they would make that a required field. It's not a required field, and therefore it's not required. It's pretty simple.

If they made it a required field what do people without a vise/re-entry permit put ?

They would have an option for people that were entering through one of the visa-free schemes, which are the only people who enter Thailand without a visa or re-entry permit.

That's excellent info and good news for all of us:

Passport holders from Hong Kong and Passport holders from Singapore can use the E-Gates (auto-re-entry booths) - upon arrival in Thailand...

This means the system 'could' be rolled out for many more nationalities - fact checking this the information suggests that Thailand is rolling out ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) and soon more visa exempt nationalities could apply online for travel authorisation, obtain a QR code and use an Auto-gate / E-Gates / auto-re-entry booths.

There are some caveats:

Honk Kong or Singapore passport holders must be entering Thailand visa exempt, not with a visa or re-entry.

They must have also entered Thailand with that same exact passport before.

If they keep the system like this, it will be of very limited use for anyone, even if they expand it to other countries. Not to mention people can't follow instructions so plenty of people who don't qualify would try to use the gates and be rejected.

I just did it I always write re-entry.

The number on my re-entry permit is somewhat..illegible

Passport presented to the officer with page opened to re-entry permit. Always with boarding card out and available. Immigration-Thailand and those electronic boarding passes on mobiles are not friends.

The TDAC form, I have found does not need to be printed or proffered as long as you have done it its OK

The QR code is on my mobile phone. Got a bit of a questions about my travel plan yesterday at BKK

As a frequent flyer I felt it very unusual. Things were moving fast. I had about three people ahead of me in line we were all processed quickly.

Perhaps TDAC has actually improved something somehow? I was skeptical at first.

I'm amazed how many people still don't know about TDAC yet. Arriving at BKK yesterday, the queue at immigration was short, but nevertheless two people in front of me were turned around to submit their TDAC. Mind-boggling, considering that there are LARGE signs about TDAC all the way from the arrival gates to immigration.
